The kitchen windows were steamed over from the heat from the stove and the group of people who were carrying dishes in and out to the dining room.

  11. A dozen beady eyes gazed down at Steve like monsters from the sci-fi books he collected. He imagined behind their frowns they had the sharp fangs too. The big yellow transporter was beeping loudly and then its door opened. The captain at the helm was a large woman, with red hair. When she flashed a brilliant smiled, revealing human teeth, he sighed in relief and took the first step to board her ship.

  21. As soon as I entered the ship, I was greeted by the welcoming smiles with friendly eyes staring at me. The bystanders moved to make a pathway for me, and I couldn’t be happier than I am this moment. I walked cautiously, afraid of tripping on my own dress that I cherished; a white dress for the special occasion, a special dress for a certain someone. I clutched the hem of my dress, walking up the golden stairs in the ship as everyone kept their attention on me. I felt flattered, but at the same time, I could feel a hint of shyness in me. I was not used to people paying this kind of attention to me, which is the main reason of my heart beating fast.
And in the top of the stairs, my special man was waiting for me, his sweet smile decorating his handsome face.
“Rose,” My name slipped out of his lips so gracefully, and it sent an electric shock inside my body.
The way he was staring at me was so enchanting that I wasn’t able to finish my sentence, for it was cut shortly as soon as his name slipped out of my lips. “Jack..”

  23. A faint smell of acid greeted our nostrils at the doorstep. Not too welcoming, but relieving nonetheless. We’d thought we wouldn’t be able to find a single soul in this ghost town and would get lost until help came to rescue us.
What lay behind the door is still unknown, and we’re just hoping we don’t find ourselves in deep trouble again.
“Got too deep but how deep is too deep?”
    Uh-oh!

  24. “You can always go home,”

    they say.

    When it doesn’t matter.

  31. The warm house had a welcoming aura around it, or so Peniford thought as he trudged slowly through the blizzard towards it. Dark snowy nights were not quite as ominous as dark stormy nights, but he still was cautious about stopping at some stranger’s abode, especially one in the middle of nowhere.

  36. “Not much of a welcoming party, is it?” quipped Thomas, though he was good-natured about it. The handful of friends who had greeted him at the airport had scurried away rather quickly, heading to their cars or craving a corporate coffee.

I smiled and patted my brother on the back. He had gotten bigger since I last saw him, which was good, as he needed the extra padding. “C’mon,” I said. “I’ll take your suitcase.”

  37. Thanksgiving would have been pretty welcoming if we had a big Thanksgiving. But alas. It was me, Mom, and a lasagna. And that’s pretty welcoming on its own accord. Lasagna is pretty welcoming. It welcomes itself to your mouth. When your family is sprawled around the U.S like marbles, just eat lasagna.

  38. With a welcoming hand, India beckoned Mbala in to the stables. “Here are my charges,” she said as she skipped from stall to stall, gracing each occupant with a nuzzle or a flick behind the ear.
