  10. She felt a twinge inside her chest watching the interaction. She didn’t trust him. And she certainly didn’t trust him with a new girl. She rolled her eyes hard to no one and went back to reading as the couple exchanged saliva. Someday she would tell him exactly what she thought of him. Which would require introducing herself.

    Maybe next time.

  30. Looking over,
    He touched me.

    With his eyes
    He so obviously craved
    The feel
    Of skin on skin.

    He touched me,
Brushed a strand of hair behind my ear.
    Alcohol on his breath
    And smoke on his skin.

    He touched me,
And never have I felt so-
    Disturbed.

    He touched me,
    And I sat there.
    Not uttering a word.

  32. DISTURBED

She explained her secret life as a sugar baby excitedly, no hushed tones.
Being in a Starbucks didn’t help.

“Yeah, he’s from this sugar daddy website.”

    “And now you’re dating?”

    “Yeap! He’s mine!”

Well, then…I wasn’t going to judge.

  37. I am very disturbed that people you trust will take advantage your children and all the domestic violence that occurred. It is hard to think of my self as a victim. .
I have had to deal with the fallout of our family.
Each day I worked and Paul stayed home I was walking on egg shells. There was a fight about everything. I feared coming home wondering what I would be facing today.
I became an expert worrier. I worried about everything: family, money, my parenting and then there was Paul-he almost always had a problem with the kids,

  38. The view from Lucy’s office was slightly obstructed by a flag, brand new stars and stripes flapping wildly in the October wind. Pitt Street was heaving with people. There was barely standing room, but there was none of the frivolity of the Spring Carnival. There was a heaviness in the movement of the crowd, a swelling discontent. It felt as if all of the protesters had morphed into one angry serpent who had been disturbed, slowly sliding through the streets, rising up ready to strike.

  39. “You are seriously disturbed.”

“No.” My voice sounded foreign to me. Half-garbled, half-growl. “I am enlightened. I see the world as it is, not as I desire. Even the colors are different now. Their real shades. Not to be described by petty language.”

    “You need help.”

“Shut up!” I snarled. I grabbed his arm. “You speak from ignorance! I will teach you to speak from the highest pinnacle of knowledge.”
