  1. Moving. Wether or not I’m ready for it, the last week of my current life is already underway. Somehow it hasn’t really hit me yet, even though I’m basically living downstairs, and there are boxes everywhere, and I’ve already asked for help for the big day. My dog seems excited for the change.

  2. He can hold his liquor but he can’t hold his tongue. Things are going to change, he tells me. Things are going to get better. I’m gonna do big things, man. I’m gonna make a difference. His voice rings out like a song and his smile is sure. But his eyes ache. Eyes so young, while the rest of his body nears its third quarter of a century. And how could I discourage? How could I doubt? When you don’t know who you are and you’ve got nothing to lose, you can be whoever you choose.

  3. Let’s get underway! This will be a fun trip to an unknown desination. What’s that you say? You don’t like surprises? Oh, too bad, did I tell you, the contract says you can’t back out.

Better read the fine print next time, hmm?

  4. I never thought I’d be done. The project, no matter how tedious was going to aid so many peoples, i almost squealed every time i thought about it. The tunnel was grueling to dig, and I often complained if i had not remembered the recievers in a while.

  5. When the party is underway and you’re drinking, and dancing, and laughing,
    You’ll think of me.
It will come out of nowhere,
    You’ll wonder what I’m doing,
    How I ended up,
Whether I’m at my own party.
    Dancing my own dances.

You’ll take a quiet moment to stare into the corner,
Imagine it was me there, not her.

And then the shadow clouding your brow will pass,
    Someone will spill a drink,
The moment leaves, and so do I.

  6. “Did you hear about the riots?”

    “What? ‘Riots?'”

“Yeah, man. Where they break windows and stuff.”

I shook my head. “No riots that I’ve seen,” I remarked. “I know a large protest is underway in the next city over, but I don’t think it’s turned violent.”

“You’re dumb, bro. Protests always turn violent.”

I sighed at my brother. “And you always turn into a moron when you open your mouth. But maybe that’s permanent now.”

  7. Often misinterpreted as being stuck. It can be a simple change in thinking from feeling like you’re not making progress to realizing that you just have to keep working to find your place and your journey.
