  11. I fitted a turbine engine into the structure of the old car. Shakily, I waited with bated breath for the car to start. It did not.

“Aww, not again!” I said, left hand rested on my waist, with my right wiping the sweat off my head.

“Told you that you got conned,” Jake said triumphantly, and with his usual ‘I-told-you-so’ look, he lifted the turbine engine out of the car and sent it into the junk yard.

  12. The 3 sleek white sails of each turbine, cut through the wind that blew onto the shore. Ships passing by them, carrying the building blocks for the next one to be set up. They are a prominent feature of the Norfolk coastline. It seems to be such a simple thing; to generate electricity by the movement of the wind. And, yet why are we only just starting to it?

  13. There seem to be many people that dislike them. But the wind turbine by the M4 always seems to wave us off gracefully on our journey and then welcome us back warmly with open arms.

  14. Sometimes life is sort of like a turbine, it goes around and around, and you get stuck in a rut, in a cycle. And if you know anything about cycles, you know that they can be hard to break, You know that they don’t stop on their own, you have to put in effort to end them, and its not always easy, but that’s not what life is about. You shouldn’t look for the easy things, you should look for the unstoppable turbines in your life, and love them.

  15. The thought of a turbine reminds me of a power plant, filled with running engines and electric gears. All formed to develop one functioning system. That system probably runs another bigger system.

A turbine is a rotary mechanical device that extracts energy from a fluid flow and converts it into useful work. A turbine is a turbomachine with at least one moving part called a rotor assembly, which is a shaft or drum with blades attached. Moving fluid acts on the blades so that they move and impart rotational energy to the rotor. Early turbine examples are windmills and water wheels

  27. The world is not like it used to be. At least not anymore. It used to be round and all the oceans were in place and all the continents were where they were supposed to be. But now, it’s like a wind turbine turned the whole thing upside down. I don’t know where anything is or why anyone is but I think I like it…

  28. No one ever stops to think about how mundane it is to be a turbine. I mean, the first few spins through the open air are enjoyable. Once the initial thrill has worn off, however, the rest kinda suck. Not because they aren’t important… More because I’ve seen it all before.

  29. if I knew what that meant I’d write something meaningful. at least something that’s meaningful to myself because people who try to inspire others through their unoriginal ideas should be lined up and shot like tin cans on a rednecks fence

  32. I think a turbine is that powering thingy at the back of a boat. It turns really really fast and the vehicle moves. It sounds like the word turban. Which is a hat that they wear in the movie Aladdin. I don’t think turbans look good.

  40. Turbines. I think of engines spinning up, machines making noise in the dull cities with smoke coming out. Industry. Cold, dark, grey, bleak. Unromantic in a way, honestly. But they do create energy. They create life.
