  1. Another way of harnessing energy that isn’t so bad for our world. Apparently they’re ugly and create noise pollution and kill a lot of birds. But so do housecats and windows that have been cleaned with windex or something else. I wouldn’t mimnd turbines being the only source of my energy. I remembner all of the turbines on the way to Coachella which reminds me of the weekend being not quite qhat I thought it’d be…and the ensuing drama and boy.

  2. The wind turbine turned with the force of the storm. Gust after gust of wind spun the fan, creating energy for the small town. One lone scientist stood below with a clip board.

  3. wind… energy… also rhymes with combine which makes me think of hay season back in Missouri… hay season was always one of my favorite times of year because it smells so sweet when it’s being cut and put up. I’d go on jogs in the morning or evening and I would run past several hay fields… the air would hit my face and give me a new motivation to keep running… and I’d always smile :)

  5. As I pilot the plane through the air, I see a terrible sight. Smoke has been emitted from one of the turbines and the plane suddenly started rattling as if someone was shaking it. I hope I can make it out of this alive, along with passengers.

  6. the grey and the cold stretched as far as the eye could see. there were machines, strange, otherworldly machines that one had to assume were turbines. in this area, i was a novice. in this field of expertise, i was a nobody

  7. Turbines. Turbine engines roaring to life, shocking passengers in a plane to such an extent that their palms are suddenly sweaty with nervousness. A baby might cry as the monstrous noise hurts his little ears. A woman may begin hyperventilating and her husband might comfort her with a hug.

    by MD on 07.09.2012
  8. The wheel spun, pushing air past the woman’s face and she just sat there, letting the wind rip away her tears and sorrows. The turbine spun faster tangling the woman’s already matted hair.

  9. I was just thinking about studying engineering. The turbines can be one of the topics. i am a little bit worried about studying hydrodynamics, so I still need to decide.

  10. You’re never prepared for the first time that you ride an airplane. You tell yourself that you are, but you don’t know how you’ll feel upon takeoff. Your stomach rises to your throat and as you ascend, you pray that you don’t throw up–or some unsuspecting bird doesn’t fly into a turbine.

  14. here i am, innocently trying to get a cab. naturally, i’m a person and i have places to go. like i was saying, im hailing a cab and every car driving by is either giving me the finger or yelling at me and i wish i was exagerating. it’s like little boys yelling at an obses woman, kind of bad. it’s not a good feeling and im also getting a strong vibe that i shouldn’t be wearing a turbine. fml

  17. Wind turbines are a source of renewable energy. Like really big sideways fans. I wonder how many insects one wind turbine kills a day? Bet a lot of insects die a day..

  18. The hamster wheel, clicking the tab
    Only stopped for a second
    But even that was enough
For the fuses to blow, the bulbs to go
The wiring to sizzle along the plaster
    Burning black lines up, across
    down the walls –

  20. The mountaintops blasted apart, old woods cleared, bedrock blasted and shattered, all in the name of the environment, so the 450′ wind turbines can grace our forever-ruined ridgelines. Ironic isn’t it? Of course I want to get away from coal to renewables, but does the chancy power generated make up for the destruction of the mountaintops?

  21. My stomach feels like a turbine when I’m with you. I don’t know why, but you’re love is the fuel.

  28. What the heck is a turbine? I don’t know. I’ve seen it in text before, I’ve heard of it in conversations before but what the heck is one? I don’t know. Maybe good old Merriam Webster could help me out with that. Or Collins can too. Either one works fine.

  30. The turbine was moving slowly, it was rusty and old but it had some sort of wonderful quality to it.
We sat there and waited for the wind to blow so that it could pick up speed. I loved when that happened.
The cold breeze rushing across my hot face ease the corruption happening in my mind. I loved every minute of it.
I closed my eyes and imagine his cold lips on top of mine and my hair wrestling his face.
I got goosebumps all over my body from the cold air of the turbine. I shutter slowly in his invisible arms.

  34. The first thing that comes to mind when I think about turbines is wind tunnels. I have no idea if wind tunnels have anything to do with turbines, but it seems to make sense in my mind. As a young artist my life never necessitated having to investigate the word. All I know is that a turbine has something to do with air.

  37. Turbine. What a strange word to have to write about. I am not impressed. One time I was playing Scategories. You get a letter and have to come up with a bunch of answers to phrases that start with that letter. Turbulence was my best answer. “Something in

  39. It spins, and once I managed to see through the blades of the turbine something I didn’t think I could before: a slew of images of dreams once held during childhood, small in small hands, fragile like glass.

  40. It whorls and twirls. Nothing can stop it. It’s sucking me in. No hold. I’m slipping. I am finally free from my repressed self. I am a but a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar.
