  1. My teacher is a real interesting woman. She’s sixty-five and under five feet, but boy is she ever feisty. She drives to school every day in her black VW Beetle, covered in flames, metal music blaring.

  2. mom. She taught me how to read. She used brightly colored plastic fridge magnets to teach me my numbers and letters. Not many moms would take the time to do that now.

  3. There was a teacher I had during one of my years in summer school. He always rode his bike to school rather than his jeep, he was a vegetarian, and he spoke his mind, even though he was rude most of the time. This rude, and mellow man, was the only teacher that I had the pleasure of learning from and becoming infatuated with.

What I think of when I see teacher…. Is a babysitter. Unless you talking about a “real” teacher outside of the educational system. Teacher….

  9. I am a teacher. This is the core of who I am, and if I look to my history, it is the core of who I was long before I became one. I live to collect knowledge and repackage it for others, to help them find their way to what they need to know to live their lives, even if they don’t realize it. Teachers, even when they are called something else (like mothers or masters or guides) are the most central element in perpetuating our culture.

  14. i just wrote about this one, but i guess i’ll do it again. teachers are incredibly brave people. they give up so much of their lives just to enrich the lives of their students. often times, though, they end up learning more from their students, than their students do from them.

  15. We all have teachers in our lives. Some are physical people, others are experiences. Some are good some are bead. In the end though it isn’t about what you are taught. It is about how you apply what you know. So teach. Be taught.

  25. Teachers like apples. Apparently. Although I hardly ever see my dad eat apples, and he is a teacher. I don’t know how that rumor got started- would you call it a rumor? Why are there always apples on teachers’ desks in movies? Strange. I think they’d like books more. Oh they’re book worms! And worms live in apples.

  27. She wanted to be a teacher. Or at least that was her backup plan. The idea confused him. He saw no merit in it. He found it to be boring. But that was not what she told him. One day, out of the blue he asked her, “Why is it that your back up plan is teaching Haruhi?” She replied, “Because if I am not a lawyer, if I cannot help those who are already in trouble I want to teach others not to ever find themselves in that situation.” He nodded back at her slowly in complete amazement of the person he loved.

  28. Teachers aren’t just the kind that you meet at school. They aren’t adults either. They can be a dog, a cat, even your best friend. All a teacher is, is someone who respects your learning and will teach you. You can learn all sorts of things, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be in school.

  30. I need a teacher maybe I don’t really want one I’m just thinking one would be particularly helpful with all this web/computer stuff I’m attempting to do today. I don’t know if I’d want one around full time though they tend to get a bit uppity like they know all don’t they? Maybe I’m wrong I mean, there were several in the younger grades that I enjoyed immensely.

  32. My Dad is a teacher. He is a chorus teacher at my high school. He is a good man, but a better teacher. When I look at my Dad walking through the halls, I see him belonging just as well with the student body. The kids in his class adore him. But he’s my Dad, which makes it hard to recognize his popularity.

  34. I once had this amazing teacher who used to say “No one can know everything until everything is known.” I used to think hard about what this meant. That the world is ours to discover and learn about and maybe school teaching isn’t as important as self-teaching and learning. Then I set out on the mission to be my own teacher, and ever since, I have been learning and discovering the world for what it is, not what we are told it is.

  35. A teacher can be many things, a mother, a mentor, someone who cracks you with a whip when you disbehave. A teacher can be many things, loving, stern, wise, and even silly. A teacher can be many things, mine is a mother, a mentor, a loving, wise teacher.

  38. I appreciate very single teacher I ever had — in and out of the classroom. Even the teachers that were not so great taught me lessons, even if they were how I did not want to conduct my life. I have evolved into teaching in various ways myself. I have always been the kind of person who likes to share fun, interesting, or meaningful things with other people. Thank heavens for teachers!

  39. What is a teacher? A teacher is one who teaches others to learn. The best teachers to not just ‘feed information’ to their students, but teach their students how to find things out for themselves. They inspire others to seek out the truth for themselves. Life is much better for the teachers that live in it!
