  15. The trees moved slowly in the light summer wind. Underneath the leaves, sun dripped on the faces of two young brothers. They were waiting. Waiting for the start of the game that they knew was coming. Piecemeal, others began to materialize in the field. From all directions silent footsteps, only audible with the occasional snapped twig or rustled tall grasses. A religious experience. Now swarms, organized without direction or communication. One boy slips into the lower limbs of a particular craggy crab apple tree, a bandanna streaming from his pocket. Opposite another small form reaches up into branches. The game is about to begin. Whooping and hollering combatants clash.
