  1. “I thought that went brilliantly,” Watson gave his satchel a satisfied pat. “Not at all. In fact, I would say we failed miserably,” his companion replied. “Well then how do you define success?” Watson asked as the two men strolled along Drewrey Lane. With a flourish of his great coat, his cohort stopped short. “We have not yet found the last and most vital answer.” “I daresay, we’ve more than done our duty, here,” Watson continued. “We were engaged to ascertain who murdered Mrs. Cromwell, and that we did with alacrity.” “My dear Watson,” Holmes cried. “We only know who committed the crime by his small size seven shoes and muddy footprints. We do not yet possess the knowledge for how a man with no hands, and only one eye could have shot her from two-hundred yards away, in the dead of night.”

  2. Success is a scary word. We never know if we’ll have success in life. And if we do… we could live and enjoy fabulous lives. However, if we fail and do not succeed, our lives quickly become horror stories. We can deal with this in many ways. The first option is the naive and the the crazy optimist choice, the one where we get up and keep trying and start believing we can succeed, because that will somehow make the success become real. Another choice is to freak out and be completely pessimistic. This is where you decide you can never succeed at anything, that you’re going to be a failure you’re whole life and that there is no way in hell that you will ever walk outside your front door for anything besides grabbing the mail ever again… I, however, like somewhere in the middle. Failure is something that happens often to me and it is in no way missed by my family. Success is something that can seem to happen frequently at times and during other times it’s down right scarce. My failures greatly out weigh my successes. But I deal with these failures in the only way I can. I am neither an optimist nor a pessimist. I am somewhere in that grey area called the middle. Depending on the situation, I will try again. I might even venture a third try. But if I happen to fail again, I will freeze up. I don’t keep trying until I get it right. But instead of freaking out on myself, I move on. I find a better thing to spend my precious time on. That way I spend less time worrying about those failures that keep messing with my head saying “na na na na na. You can’t do itttt!” and focus on the few success stories I have. That way I have more of a life and less of a waste.

  4. i believe success is one of the greatest motivations that there is. It’s the one thing that truly inspires me to be better. The word success is beautiful. It implies that your efforts will someday soon pay off. Isn’t that wonderful? that you could possibly have the great feeling of knowing you truly make a difference in your life.
I just think it’s a perfect word, and a perfect idea.

  5. this is what you get when you achieve something that you want. others may not want it, but you do. and there is no better feeling in the world than to have that. Rewards may be given, happiness may be granted, but either way something good comes out of it. Life should be full of success stories.

    by Dominique on 04.04.2011
  6. Success is what you make of it. Every day, we experience successes that aren’t celebrated…solving an equation, getting someone to smile. Every moment is a milestone, which makes every moment we’re alive a success.

    by Abigail Kotlarz on 04.04.2011
  7. Success is measured in personal perspective. You can have success in your life, your friends, your family, or something more simple. How to measure success is completely up to you, and only you. Others should not be able to take this opportunity from you.

    by Cassandra on 04.04.2011
  8. success is achieved through a variety of means. Whether it is ill gotten or not is irrelevant. It is simply the end result that matters to most people. However this brings to mind a variety of questions about the very nature of success and how we as humans can identify if we have achieved it or not. The problems arising from this dilemma are some of the greatest known to mankind.

  9. Success is reaching all the segments and not just reaching them, but beating everyone else. It is simply living up to a reputation laid out for him, free for the taking. He just has to take it. He has to master all the skills and show them that this Christian Arab faggot can set the standard.

  10. Success is something I am both afraid of and excited for. I’m afraid I won’t be successful and that I will forever live in a cardboard box. I am excited to see where life takes me and where my success will lead me.

  12. success. success is what everyone desires. with success comes everything. everything positive anyway. could be a fallacy. maybe i’ll know one day. but there are of course small successes and big successes. maybe success doesn’t bring you everything, maybe it does. everyone wants to achieve it anyhow.

  13. Success.
    Money.
    Women.
    Power.
    The American dream in action.

    Where is fulfillment?
    Where is compassion and understanding?
    Success is nothing material.
    Abstract, it is ethereal only.

  18. Life is hard sometimes, but success is when we pass all those obstacles that life reveals. Success is what drives us to get out of bed in the morning. It’s peace of mind and contentment that everything is okay, and life is good. You’re happy with the choices you’ve made, for the most part, and everything fell into place, nicely.

  25. Its a word we hear every day. We let others define it for us all too often. Success is really about achieving what you personally want. Just because you’re an olympic gold medalist, you can’t count that as success if its nothing something you truly enjoy doing.

    by Kelly on 04.04.2011
  26. success is something we’re always searching for i guess. you define it based on your own wishes and expectaions, and sometime you define it based on others expectations too. for me, success is based off of how well i think i accomplish my goals, or if i did as much as i could to not have any regrets. i want success in school as well as success with my friends and family, and in my life in general. i want success with people the most.

  31. success can be measured by happiness. sure a person may have more money or things (meaning luxury) but it does not give them a piece of mind. happiness also cannot be measured by the excited state of mind. it is the steadiness of mind.

  34. Success can only be gained through effort. Everything else is just luck. When I think success I think hours of grueling hard work that pays off in something you earned–whether it was what you were working towards or something else entirely. Success is holding your high school diploma with that tiny little seal on it that says “valedictorian” and knowing what it took to get you there.

  38. It wasn’t worth it. Success never really means happiness…at least not in the way we want it to. God, I wish it could have ended differently when I pursued my dreams. I got success and well you got the happiness.
