  12. When the whole weight of the world is on your shoulders.
When everything goes wrong and no matter what you do you cannot fix it.
When even the sun shines brightly on your face you cannot muster a true smile.
When life just keeps pelting you with lemons.
That’s the feeling. Like you are broken into a million tired pieces scattered throughout time with no actual time for yourself.

  20. The glass shattered as the beer bottle fell to the ground. My dad’s eyes stared at me as he rolled up the sleeves if his shirt, I knew what was coming. He wound up and in a matter of seconds I was out cold on the ground with a bruise just the right size to say I ran into a pole.

    by M on 05.26.2013
  21. She stood there – broken but still alive, still breathing – even though her heart lay shattered on the ground around her, and watched her walk away.
Though it felt like her world was ending, like it too was walking away from her, she stood there – still alive, still breathing.
Though her tears forged mighty rivers down the slope of her cheeks, turning her pale skin iridescent in the scattered sunshine, she stood there – still alive, still breathing.
And, even though her eyes burned and her chest ached, she stood there – still alive, still breathing.
Until she was able to gather the pieces of her heart and, she too, was able to walk away. Still alive. Still breathing.

  22. Fixed far above, the intact future hangs. Brightly reflecting the light cast upon it, shining forth with prospects of a fragile future. Outer voices in my inner sanctum, and the dream is unfixed. Falling, fallen, shattered. Left with the shards to pick up the pieces and begin something real.

  23. Glass; so fine and thin, transparent and cold. I peered out my clouded window, my breath fogging it up in patches. I couldn’t help feeling like someone had pierced my heart as I watched the car back out of the driveway.

  30. He. Simultaneously, the feeling shattered me and completed me. He, they called me. He as in boy, as in male, as in I was one. He. Perfection washed over my mind, and I basked in it as it overwhlemed me. To feel myself so strongly, over a single word.

He, they called me, and I was.

  31. shattered to pieces. I knocked it down as I walked by, too busy daydreaming to pay attention to where I’m going…as usual. Just one second of carefulness would have done the trick, and I wouldn’t be in this position right now. Scrambling to reassemble something I have no idea how to build in the first place

  33. My greatest sin?
I can’t even begin to list,
What a horror I have been,
But soon you’ll get the gist.

My job is a simple one,
Though most wouldn’t wish to commit,
Its a real shame that they miss out on all the fun,
    But many cannot bare it.

I am the King of the Underworld,
    Ruler of the dead,
However my story is not of that world,
    But of my lover instead.

I found her in her mother’s fields,
She was more radiant than the sun,
One look and her fate was sealed,
Because I knew she was the one.

One glance and I was in love,
As soon as her eyes met mine,
I could see the potential that she was full of,
    Which made her kidnapping fine.

Of course she struggled when I grabbed her by force,
    That was to be expected,
But I just knew that she would soon love me without any remorse,
Which is why I was unaffected.

I dragged her back in heavy chains,
And locked her away in my estate,
I was well aware of her unshattered, false disdain,
But why she tried to hide her love, I could not contemplate.

So I made a deal with the gods to keep her here,
And now my dear Persephone stays with me,
And for 6 months of the year,
She is mine because I know she truly does not want to be free.
