  1. The people, the setting, the atmosphere. Everything felt so odd. Like I fell down the rabbit hole into an endless world of chaos, like I walked into a labyrinth I couldn’t find my way out of.

  2. We had just finished setting the table, when the dog jumped on it. The plates broke and there were splinters everywhere! Ugh. Next time we are not setting the table. :)

    by Rachana on 10.06.2011
  3. Setting the table was one of the family traditions that I remembered with a hint of nostalgia. As my siblings and I put the dishes and eating utensils on the table, my parents would bring the food to the center, then we all sat together and said a prayer. It’s been so long, but I can still remember it all.

  4. the place of something. where something or someone is. what you’re near. the area of which a story occours. umm, where you want to go. where you’ve been or are.

  5. place where I am what’s all around me. Settings can be positive places to go to find comfort or relaxtion. Settings also make me think of place settings in restraunt or play

  6. As I look around the campus, the setting is breaktaking. The sun shining beautifully through the clouds, people walking and chatting joyfully, students studying, etc. I wish my setting within reflects what I’m seeing.

    by AJ on 10.06.2011
  7. Its the place where everything goes on. My setting is in a farmland in Illinois. In the middle of no where. How peaceful!

    by Kelsie on 10.06.2011
  8. Setting the tone for worship. Cause the setting of the device to change. setting the pace for future achievements, setting new goals as old ones are achieved. Stetting a standard for persons to follow, or personal goals. setting professional targets

    by sedonnie on 10.06.2011
  9. the place from where the result is generated. If pieces of the setting were different how would it change the result. What pieces in particular , if changed, would affect a deifferent result?

  10. It took place at night in my parents’ basement. It was dark and my sister and I were getting the car because there was a murderer on the loose and nobody knew where to find him. There was a manhunt. Police walked the streets in full riot gear carrying guns. We got in the car and drove out in the driveway. Immediately we were covered in blood.

  11. The setting was wonderful. The perfect place. A row of cornfields, glistening in the sunset, the sun just over the edge of the hills in the background, and plenty of things going on in the background to create the atmosphere. This is where the kiss would happen. I stood back and watched it rise onto the stage, my supreme creation ready for the world to see.

  12. The setting of a story is vital. “The crisp wind shook the dilapidated home.” My problem is that when I write about imagery and setting…I tend to be a bit wordy. :3 Oh, well. I like the setting. It helps the reader be able to visualize the story better. And never end the story with “so, yeah.”

  13. setting smoothly rhyme and reason
special bond that grips the season
    just along the shadowed bend
is far too beautiful to send
back to its owner, feast at will
ill take it as mine to fulfill
    i weep at terror personified
i laughed when i found my dearest lied.

    by Chandra Engstrom on 10.06.2011
  14. The setting is basically the only thing that has changed over the years. People are still the same, they just have different names. There’s different trends, but we still want the same basic things. Setting is everything and at the same time the only thing, for people are still exactly the same, no matter how much we say we have evolved and grown.

  15. place where you set up something. for example screen settings. phone settings.

    by Marija on 10.06.2011
  16. What setting am I putting myself into
    Day after day
    How does one chose:
    Where to go and
    Who to be with?
I’ve been placed here without my consent.
    Time for a change

  17. But you can catch yourself entertaining habitually certain ideas and setting others aside — and that, I think, is where our personal destinies are largely decided.

  18. setting apart from the world is a mysterious outlook to have. there are far too many loop holes as far as where we go when we die, and the the reason we were born and what we are going to do tomorrow. i hope to just see the beauty along the way as i crosss the vally of my life, and inevitabely reach the other side, whether it be beautiful, or nothing at all.

    by Chandra Engstrom on 10.06.2011
  19. The setting isn’t as important as the words he whispered into my ear. The place and time isn’t as much of a necessary fact as the way his hand felt curled against the side of my neck. His eyes were electric and his mouth was split and there was blood from someone other than himself.

  20. This is a difficult thing to do in a novel. If you exaggerate, and end up with too much exposition, the reader will be bored. However, a setting that isn’t detailed enough won’t be immersive.

  21. The moment when you just want to settle down and gt close to somebody and just feel safe. Know that you can come back to them when the day is over. Closure. Feeling safe.
Also it could be a way to manage things. A way in which you decide to deal with something. That’s a setting.

    by Roxana on 10.06.2011
  22. the setting is where whatever is going on in a story takes place. the setting can have many variations. sometimes it can be outside or sometimes it can be inside. i imagine the setting to always be beautiful…i don’t know why, i just do. the setting is actually one of the most important parts of telling a story. the setting can make or break a story. depending on where it is can change the perception of a person. the setting is very important, as i said before. and like i said before, there are many different settings that are possible.

    by Lainey on 10.06.2011
  23. Setting s where you are what its like around you and everything about that special space. It’s a beautiful place the place where you are and what its like. Don’t be afraid don’t be scared just be happy.

  24. Where to start, that really is the question. Where. There are so many settings you could use… an exotic beach, gothic and dark, outer-space. There are so many wheres.

    by carolyn McCullough on 10.06.2011
  25. A setting can be the most important part of a story, and yet it’s usually the last thing I mention in my own. I’ll try to work on that, but it’s going to be hard as I tend to live in my head. …On the other hand though, that might make it easier.

  26. a setting on a movie set. oh well, or a jello has set. uhm what else? setting sounds familiar with sitting or selling. idk, what do you think? setting, setting, setting.
its kinda, weird. not the usual word you use every day. i am setting down my pencil? i think not. or im settling down at my new place. kick. sick. alleluya.

    by Rachelle on 10.06.2011
  27. This place has many settings. The warmth you feel beneath your feet as you walk down the beach. The feel of the water as you splash around with friends. The hotness of the sun shining brightly as you enjoy your day. The setting of the atmosphere changes as the moon peaks through the sky. The cold breeze winds by as you say your last goodbye to the day.

  28. I seat down in the setting sun, to find my release from the day. Endearing another day to make it my way.

    by joe on 10.06.2011
  29. Setting is everything. If you don’t have a setting, you don’t have a real story. People need to be able to connect and to do that properly they need context. The setting is the context. Sure an attractive male is walking. That’s great but really how much does it mean. Maybe he’s walking done a dark alley, through a busy city street with high rise buildings, or maybe down a dusty country road without an artifact of human life in site. Now there is your story.

  30. It’s not really a hovel, but it’s certainly a bit run down as far as houses go. Comfortable little thing, really, lived in. On the messy side. The patch in front of the house is a bit run down, really. Weedy, but smooshed together with flowers and herbs and all sorts of interesting plants.

  31. Setting accounts for a lot of how we feel. Is it sunny? Is the room open? Is the beach crowded? Is the basement dark and damp? Setting. It affects everything. So, put yourself in the best setting possible, and acclimate as best you can when in a setting less than pleasing.

  32. the staring of the story or where the story gets good.

  33. setting a location….a place….a place that can be anywhere I want to be….where would I be if I could choose my setting….the beach….mall….somewhere other than class….thats for sure….maybe in bed…napping…

  34. the setting of the story is the plot of your story. the setting is in the middle of the story.

  35. It had been the perfect setting for regret and nostalgia. Driving home, I looked out of the rain-streaked window and felt the tugging of tears at my eyes. I already knew that I had my one chance. And now it was all over. Everything would change; all of the tension building up to this point would be gone. Everything I thought I knew would be nowhere to be found. And I would be left to pick up the pieces by myself.

  36. I’m not really sure why this setting is so awful. I mean, yeah, there are hanging cantelopes on the ceiling and god only knows what kidn of diseases cantelopes carry these days, but something tells me it’s not that. Maybe in the future ill avoid cantelopes altogether, because i’m not really into teh whole dying thing. Also, they’re round, and round things scare me. It’s really because of the lack of definition, but sitll, they’re scary.

  37. The tree was the main point within the setting. Around it’s frame, glowed the beautiful twilight sky. It was that time of day. The day any thing was possible. The time of day lovers loved most and life was best.

  38. Setting
I love a beautiful table setting, all crisp linens and crystal. Translucent china that shimmers in candlelight. I love the way light plays on each surface — especially the surface of my loved ones eyes, shining in anticipation of heart-warming food, intimate conversation full of humor, and the comfort of familial love and acceptance.

  39. Setting is everything. It is why I love Europe more than here. What makes some dates go well and others poorly. It is the joy found in the little moments and the music that makes the mood happy. It is the life in any party and the coziness of every rainy day.

  40. Do you believe
    That those who wait
    Are doomed to be
    Ignored by fate?

    Does wanderlust
    Burn deep within
    and flare unquenched
    From dreams unlived?

    Don’t let your life
    Be put to waste
    And spent unlived
    From lack of haste.

    Take the risk
    The leap of faith;
    Start down the path
    You wish to take

Go now before your life is done–
And seek beyond the setting Sun.
