  9. Aw, please no! Why did you give me this one? I think romance is a silly idea that people misunderstand and the romantics are meant to be about trees and nature and stuff but we’ve made it into love. Wordsworth wouldn’t be pleased. Romance isn’t dead. Romance is just being nice, being kind, being considerate, being together.

  18. Oh how different would life have been if never I heard those sweet, sweet tones…

  19. Romance? Bah. What’s the point of being romantic anymore? The word has an entirely new meaning to most people. Romantic in the twenty-first century is telling someone you love them through a text message after you went out once. There’s no courtship, there’s no sonnet to woo you, you just get a “Hey cutie, wanna be my gf? <3" and that's it. Then you date, you kiss, you fuck, you break up, and the cycle starts all over. Worthless.

  20. Romance; it’s something so unbearable, that people fall for it.
It must be nice to feel something that way…
    Be…

  21. I tend to keep the amount of romance that I read and write a secret from everyone I know. I’m not sure why considering plenty of them read the same material, but I end up getting embarrassed just at the thought of them finding out. Romance is a lot of fun to write and I couldn’t see myself writing something that didn’t involve some sort of romantic relationships. Oh well, it might just be me, but I enjoy it and that’s that.

  22. When you think about it, the idea of romance is incredibly strange. Then again, maybe it’s just me.
Romance is basically planning things out in such a way as to impress someone, and get them to feel the same as you.
To me, it seems like it should come naturally. If it doesn’t come naturally, then it simply isn’t right.

  23. The mysterious absnese of romance in her life did frustrate and at times puzzle her. She attempted to ignore it and succeeded mostly, but the thought was always there, gnawing on a nerve in the back of her mind.

  24. I didn’t have one in my life and oftentimes I wonder if there were any room for a modern romance. What with space age communication devices and teleportation to engineer, I had to keep my eyes on human advancement. Still, that astronaut shirt hugged his biceps just enough to make my mouth water, drooling on to the master keyboard, short wiring circuits that had taken me hours to connect. Oh Infatuation.

  25. They found a sick romantical glow to their plastic covers. All I had was my flesh that paled in comparison to the colorful shine of skin replaced by hard artificiality. I could feel the difference between us, and I let the cracks in time grow thick with weeds. I was done with my effort and knowledge. It looked good now, but the plastic would break, and my skin would live beyond the glitter and falsity. The thoughts kept me going, if nothing else.

  26. The romance has died. there is no more love. The hate has not settled in yet. Where will they go from here?

  27. I thought I knew a lot about romance until I met you.
I thought I knew a lot about seduction until you walked by
with that smile making blue eyes sparkle
with that laugh that makes my toes curl

I thought I knew a lot about temptation until you touched my hand
I thought I knew a lot about desire until you asked for a kiss
with that smile melting my heart
with that laugh making me tremble

  31. Joey had dreamed of a bittersweet romance. Not a succulent one. Like eating dark chocolate without a gooey cherry center. Or caramel. Caramel, to her, was the epitome of overindulgent sweetness. Like asking your tongue to wrestle for glory against a swamp of sticky kisses.

She sat down at the café with a black coffee and a croissant. All butter. No sugar.

    by Belinda Roddie on 05.16.2012

  33. Ah, romance. The intimate linking between two similar beings–but then again, opposites do attract. Romance. Just thinking of the word brings scarlet swirls before my eyes, bulging cartoon eyes, and insanely puckered lips.

  34. A sweet romance
To get on a plane and fly–
    fly far away to see

    In love with adventure–
    In love with passion–
    In love with unbridled courage
and a strong feeling of fear.
I don’t know where exactly I’m going, My Love,
But I know you’ll meet me there.

  35. The romance was just about over, as far as she could tell. He didn’t bring her flowers anymore. He didn’t do any of the lovely little things he used to do. But then she got to thinking. He told her the important things about his day, he asked about hers. Who’s to say which things are romantic and which things aren’t?

    by Pi on 05.16.2012
  39. romance novels tend to have love triangles in them. They also like to have half-naked women and men with long hair, preferably on horseback, decorating their covers. I wonder what those models think about their careers and life decisions. Maybe they should’ve said no to drugs.

    by Laura on 05.16.2012
  40. Romance isn’t dead but it isn’t a fake dinner or a nice restaurant or showing up at the door with flowers. It’s loving someone and dedicating yourself to their honor. Romance is the small sacrifices couples make for each other on a daily basis. Romance is the kiss goodnight old couples exchange after a lifetime of being together. Romance is the four leaf clover presented to you for luck from your besotted.
