  4. I wouldn’t ever return to how life was a year ago. I am a totally different person now. I am single again, I will have a puppy named George in three days, even my hair has gotten long again for the first time since I was little. And I am free to think of this one person…this person who writes me letters and makes me laugh and likes tea and records and who is kind and whose voice I love…I cannot wait until he gets back.

  6. I had to return to this place one day. That was the strongest thought on my mind as I climbed down through jagged darkness. I worried, though. I worried that the next time would be too challenging, and that I would fail to make it back up.

  11. As I watched him duck onto the plane at the Bangor International Airport from my seat at my terminal, all that I could think about is that I hoped he would return. Watching him leave again to go back to Afghanistan was agonizing. But I knew that once he did return, it would be all the more sweet.

  15. the return was easy, the going was hard. the thick windows and red, half-open doors banging in the wind. the gaps in faces, chips in bricks like air was stealing crumbs of life at every second. how do you hold it all back? where are the barriers. do they exist? it is all too easy to go.

  16. I still have to return my library books. If I don’t who knows what’ll happen to me, or anybody that doesn’t return their books. Ugh! I shudder to even think of that nasty librarian. They need better librarians. But the Public Library is fantastic! Don’t forget! Watch out for that librarian. Return to me! No…………………..!

    to that land that i dread

    in which i used to reside
    I now live here
    this is now my home
    yet my return is inevitable
    I can physically return
    but the mental and emotional growth
    can never return to its previous state
