  1. She looked at the railroad tracks and knew that once she crossed them, she would not be able to come back to this side. She raised her right foot and placed it on the tracks and began walking towards the other side. She looked behind her to see if anybody was going to try and stop her, but the person she wanted to see most was not there. Her eyes filled with tears and she quickly raced across the tracks, knowing that he would never come for her.

  4. Trains go on railroads. My history teacher works on trains. She just got done teaching us about the Industrial Revolution.

  5. When I was little I used to go down to the railroad station with my cousin and put nickels on the tracks so the trains would flatten them when they passed.

  6. when we were younger we would walk along the railroad tracks. i always remembered how my mom used to tell me that you couldn’t hear a train approaching and it freaked me out. we were always high which scared me even more. now i thank god for those fences they put up.

  7. It was late. Five minutes was long enough of a wait for me. When would it arrive? I closed my eyes imagining the sound of it’s wheels chugging into the station. A plume of smoke rose and the whistle blew a greeting. And then it was happening. A whistle. A grunt. A grind. The railroad had finally brought my daddy home to me.

  8. My mother said she didn’t really hear the train behind her apartment building that rumbled by twice an hour. Railroad tracks didn’t bother her at all. She grew up in Philadelphia next to trolley tracks. The trolleys made a lot of noise.
