are you qualified for something, are you good enough, do you have the qualifications or skills to do the job
By Alta Lowman on 01.10.2019
when I think of qualify, I think of when it comes to a certain job or task in life.. I ask my self if I could be fit for it or qualify for it if I am good enough or what I could do to make sure I was or am good enough for it, everyone in life strives for perfection and that’s what I am to do.

There are always people that are more or less qualified for a job. It is just the way of life, but, at the same time, it can always have its downfalls. To qualify for something means to be worthy, and in the case of our protagonist, Mr. Johnson, he never ceases to amaze his colleagues with how terrible he is at almost everything. Never once has he applied for a job and gotten in. He is stil broke to this day, in fact.

She closed her eyes as if the answer were written on the back of her eyelids and she simply had to read it off to him. “It’s a quantity versus quality thing, right?”
“I guess?” He asked a question right back to her, batting it like a tennis ball at her heart as if that would get her attention.

Rex worked his ass off to get to the finals, but he didn’t even qualify for the semis. And as he threw his temper tantrum in the locker room later, I knew that there was no way I could comfort him. Rex had always been fast, but his stamina had always been garbage. He could sprint, but he couldn’t keep the pace. He’d be left in the dust a mere one minute or so into the race, and he just couldn’t handle knowing just how much more he had to work on.

No matter how many times we tried, they always said no. It’s a bitch of disease. We tried every which way and researched new treatments. The doctors scratched their heads and we cried. The problem was that under the American healthcare system, we didn’t qualify for assistance with Narcolepsy.

“Do YOU qualify for this once-in-a-lifetime offer?”
“Um, I wish, but in all honesty not really.”
“So… you aren’t employed?”
“You aren’t dead?”
“You sound qualified to me!”
“Don’t I have to have a college degree, job experience, that sort of thing?”
“It helps, but we do training, and honestly we’re a bit broke and desperate. Please do our accounting…”
“Just making sure… you WILL pay me, right?”
“Yes. Just… not more that what you’ve been asking. Most people work for more, but you don’t have much experience. Just please, take the job.”
“When can I start?”

when you earn your way into an event or place, you qualify. To qualify is an exciting feeling. It means you have worked hard and succeeded. It can also mean to specify something you are saying or writing to ensure people fully understand its meaning.

She wants to qualify everything she said in the faculty meeting. Like, after what she said to the Dean of Faculty, she should have qualified it by adding, “I didn’t mean you were unethical. Never in a million years. I just meant that some person–possibly a serial klller on Death Row–would have called you unethical. And I meant to qualify it by putting in words like ‘It’s remotely possible that some killer on Death Row might have deemed you unethical, but I would never have done so, just like the rest of the faculty here–mealy-mouthed cowards all of them–immediately said they would never in a million years have called you unethical.” Then I would have added a qualification, “Not that I meant the rest of the faculty are mealy-mouthed cowards, not at all, but it just slipped out of my mouth because I was thinking of a movie I saw on Netflix last night that showed a faculty who were all mealy-mouthed scaredy pants.” Then I would qualify that Netflix statement in a big way, “Not that I ever watch Netflix instead of preparing my lectures but my TV is broken and last night it happened to turn itself on all by itself.” I am a qualifying person in all that I do.

Después de calificar los exámenes, la maestra se quedó dormida sobre los papeles soñando un universo con los monstruos de sus alumnos. El más aterrador era un pequeño hombrecillo de traje y corbata que entraba al cuarto de la pequeña…
