To say Mr. Seely, had a profound impact on all of us would be an understatement. He was our rock. He was the best coach I have ever had and he would be forever remembered. He passed away last week from Cancer but he fought until the very end.

She looked toward the sky and felt the rainwater slither down her neck and between her breasts, soaking and cleansing her skin and soul as she fell to her knees, the concrete splitting open the skin there as she cried but refused to sob. Weather it was joy, sorrow, horror or fear she could not tell, only that the tears flowed, only to be washed away by the rain.

When I look into the night sky, the profound beauty of the stars and the enormity of the universe makes me feel so uncomfortably small. The feeling is of such insignificance.

The effect on the audience was profound. He never knew this was all it would take; a guitar, too much feedback and an angry yelp occasionally sent them into a frenzy. And the energy they exuded was intoxicating. He bathed it in and then gave it back ten-fold. They were insanely close from such a distance. It was as orgiastic as he could handle, but he revelled in the unexpected thrill it produced.

Yesterday it was epiphany, today it’s profound. Stuff that people search for all the time. People think that money is the only thing we all search for, but these are the things that we rarely admit but more frequently search for. Finding something more profound is often more important than getting a raise. Unless there is something so profound getting that raise. Maybe there is.

too many circles in that word
the p, the o, the o, the d
like eyes looking at you
or open mouths singing
when you’re drunk and dizzy
in echoing underpass

She sat there with her eyes closed, thinking about something. I watched from across the room. She has this way of biting her lip and tilting her head to the side as she’s thinking it over. I don’t know what she’s going to say, but I see the wheels turning in her brain.
They’re intricate wheels. Tiny spokes, and I wonder how I fit into her schemes, her thoughts of forever, of never, and then by the time she glances at the clock, I already know what the answer is going to be.
Just two letters. She won’t stay here with me. And she’s biting her lip and I want to do the same, to savage her and make it all go away.

Simplicity is profound. Complexity can also be profound. To be profound is to articulate truths in everyday existence that are sometimes too mundane to even notice. To be able to make sense of these truths is a rare skill.

I snooped around
and then I found,
something incredibly profound;
A dead rat.

There is a depth to the way we are, to the way things are, to the way a river is, to the way a sky is when viewed from the top, to the way a bird sees a tree or a duck sees the sea. What, then is the link between all of this, to depth, height, integrity, an ability to think, deeply. And for yourself
By Gilbert Saez on 11.02.2011
Profundity eluded my senses
no matter where I sought,
how many times I bled
upon the pages of your body,
my fingers could not
divine the holiness in you
and my words failed to
encapsulate the love
that had me bursting
at the seams.

It was a simple thought, hardly unique or groundbreaking. Yet from that simple thought grew actions that would change our nation in profound ways. From the moment the idea took hold and onward, we would not be the same people again.

To be profound, you must not try to be profound. Don’t use big words. Don’t try to speak in meter or in long phrases. That was Shakespeare’s job. That’s eloquence. Eloquence is the petals of the rose, fragile, pretty, and usually withering rather quickly. Profundity is the bud when it’s closed off – modest, humble, but capable of withstanding an entire hurricane of denial.

He looked at the clock in a profound manner, confused beyond all belief. It was half past noon and honestly he should have been out of the house hours ago because he was indeed running late. He didn’t even really understand why he was late, hence the profound look on his face. He rushed to find his things and hurry out the door.

when something is profound it makes people think, it challenges our current processes and allows for new ideas to be heard. Something profound is inspiring, and gives more meaning to the subject at hand.

It was profound how she could trust this person she had just met. How she could tell him her whole story and not be afraid. Lia felt comforted knowing she had someone she could confide in. Even if she would be leaving him to explore the world. She knew she could always come home and maybe she would have a home with him? He did seem to think of her as a daughter.
