  1. I know that in my culture, the Irish people, we use a lot of plaid. I’ve never been one to wear plaid though so I don’t know if that makes me not very Irish or maybe it makes plaid not very Irish, I dunno. I know that lumberjacks wear plaid, and they’re pretty cool, but I think it looks stupid on small people like me, so I never wear plaid. I know that some girls really hate plaid, but I think they hate it because they don’t know how to wear it.

The stuff they sell is a bit overpriced and doesn’t quite meet my needs (more useful if you want seasonal leashes or meat-laden biscuits), but the dogs are worth the trip.

  11. You know, I actually like plaid… as long as it’s not being obnoxious. It can be really dynamic and interesting. Sometimes I think it’s really undervalued by most. But I can’t find any of it in the right pieces that are subtle enough for my taste. Ah well. Such is life.

  14. plaid reminds me mostly of the waspy types who shop at jcrew and brooks brothers and vineyard vines and how they are so preppy and different than me, and how i have no problem with plaid except my association of it with people i dislike, and how i didn’t even know those stores existed until i got to school and how i’d have to have money in order to dress like them on a regular basis but for now all i want is a pair of new shoes honestly.. so maybe someday plaid will be a thing i can wear without being rich and snobby or heading to hoedown, but the only plaid i can wear now is ironic button-ups from urban outfitters

  15. It’s incredible when you see a field of people. A mass of human beings, all in one design. Plaid. But the thing with plaid is like the thing with people. When we’re all together, we’re all the same race. The same type of being. But when you look closer, when you look at our souls… we’re just a mix. And so we would be if we all wore plaid. A real representation of ourselves.

  19. Plaid isn’t really a color, but a pattern that happens to be made up of a few colors. Flannel clothes are typically plaid-patterned. Pop culture has associated it with Scotland. I don’t know that much about plaid. It usually has a red and green in it, along with possibly other colors, such as blue, brown, and gray.

  20. I wore a plaid shirt today
Black and gray surrounding open squares of white
    And I thought about you
And I thought about you thinking about me
    Do you think of me?
All I can remember is the way your arms felt around me
And that you were dressed in denim

Like the forest’s and trees, those shirts belong to me. I love the way they feel. The smell, the style. The feeling it creates as I wear it. People don’t understand that. Mountains and hiking and freedom. I love it all.
