  2. ugh, i hate anything with the neon color. It’s an annoying bright, garish hue! Who ever thought neon anything was attractive was surely mistaken. The only think neon colors are good for are putting them on your kids in a crowded place so you can find them easily!

  3. The only sound that could be heard was the soft buzzing of the neon light signpost, which was rapidly flashing on and off. The night was still. Too still. I could feel that at any moment, something would suddenly jump out. Scraps of paper were blown into poles and into my hand. I could not recognise the language of the writing. Wonderful. With nothing else to do, I casually kicked the ground, hands in pockets. Suddenly, I could feel tiny vibrations in the ground… and the rhythmic beat of drums. Soon after that, distant chants gradually flowed to my ears and I could see faint lights, a campfire. A campfire in the centre of a city.

  4. Neon is a really interesting color that has always fascinated me. I wouldn’t say I’m a big fan of wearing lots of neon but a pop of color always adds interest to the outfit. I am curious, how is neon produced? Of course, a common use of neon colors is in highlig

  7. The neon lights flashed through her memory as she traveled in her mind, going through Las Vegas all over again. There was nothing she could do about her experiences there, but she remembered the lights pleasantly, at least. Even if nothing else had been remarkably wonderful, the lights had been beautiful. All of the colors, pink, green, red, orange, blue… Gorgeous.

  9. It comes and goes as a fashion trend – the pick of teen girls in the ’80s, with hairspray and baubles and sunglsses; now it has resurfaced (again with the sunglasses) and perhaps most annoyingly, with children’s clothes. I guess it makes them easier to spot as they careen around their world, unaware.

  12. The tunnel was full of neon light, which spread high, demonic shades on the walls. She looked carefully into the powerful light which was hurting her eyes and suddenly had a revelation: the world is made of neon light, all its craziness and misunderstanding, shining bright, hurting our eyes. The primary light God has created was the neon light for it holds all the complexity of the universe.

  15. Neon makes me think of vibrancy of color. Also of lights in New York city. And of the song “Neon” by John Mayer. We saw him in concert for the first time in 2008 and he played that song live, which was a great memory.

  16. The neon colors make my eyes open wide. The pieces of the neon left behind change my thoughts. Neon makes me question my own knowledge. Things in the world are never that bright, and if they are, they’re rare to find. Is everything I’m so convinced of correct? I see these colors and I think, could I be as bright? Couldn’t we all be everything we see? The neon colors changed my perspective on a lot. We don’t look human when we are surrounded in neon. We look alien. We look like we’re ahead of our time. Neon colors remind us that there is no place to go but up.

  17. “Now why would I do that,” she said, “Why would I take your stupid leaflet just to throw it away. Maybe you can see a neon sign above my head saying come here to see today’s fool. Why else would you be pestering me?” Usually she walked around as though invisible, but today avoiding people was hard work. There seemed to be more people about then usual and a lot of noise.

  23. Neon signs are flashing on the left side of the street, illuminating the laughing people and their colorful, laughing friends wearing toothy smiles–but I’m standing on the right side, in front of a dusty old bookshop with no illumination.

The shop closed more than an hour ago, and all I’m accomplishing now is a meager defiance of the “No Loitering” sign behind me. I don’t have a reason to be here, but for some reason, I don’t want to leave.

Not “some reason.” I know exactly why I don’t want to leave.

  28. The lights flicker in the sparse world above. In the world I see are the auras of one hundred thousand little lightning bugs all in flight. I am among them as I soar, my eye as wide as the sea below. But I am not flying now an these are not the neon lights I hoped to see.

  29. The interesting thing about neon which is also a bit creepy is that it kind of shines from within. By itself. It doesn’t merely reflect light like the rest of us do. It carries within itself a mini generator of light that only gets activated and pushes through in the darkest times.

There are so many they have to fight with each other to become the one at the front. I hate this feeling. It needs to end so I can start to live my life happily again and be myself.

  33. The neon sign flickered in the window. I paused. It wasn’t that the store looked bad it was just… more sketchy than I would have liked. Still, I took a deep breath and pushed open the door. A small bell dinged and the girl at the counter looked up at me with a face that screamed bored. “Welcome to Brookfields Bookfields. How can I help you?”

  34. I knew a boy named Neon. He was a unique kid, but his name was suiting enough. It only could’ve been more perfect had his last name been ‘Lights’. He was always bright and glowing.
