  1. Mutual means that both people come to an agreement. That they understand each other. They connect. Something unspoken works out. They both “get” it. Either that or they both accept the other. Togetherness. Ish. Mental compatibility? Sameness.

  2. “I’m so angry with you,” she whispered. “so angry, and hurt and confused.”
    he stared, saying nothing.
“how can you just stand there? how can you? say something, explain to me where your head is at. tell me how you feel, who you are.”
he shook his head, and said nothing.
“you’ve changed. you’re different. but more importantly we’re different. i’m so angry at you. i’m so pissed off and frustrated and confused. i dont like this new you. bring the old you back. bring him back to me.”
“the feeling,” he said, quite monotonously, “is mutual.”

  3. relationships are mutual, never one way, they must be two way. If one person always gives they will wear out. there is no “i” in mutual.

  4. oh how mutual it was. telling jokes and stories of their individual adventures one after the other and building a lovely relationship off of their playfulness. each teasing the other with their mouths. they had a rhythm; a hard wave of intensity crashing down onto the shores of tenderness and romance; they were in harmony-even their heart beats thumped to the same pattern in the heat of the moment despite the cool moon-lit air. “the night went quite well,” they thought mutually when they had departed ways, each smiling to themselves as they reflected the previous events but grinning brightly when they thought of what was to come–

  5. it started out small. it was in her fingertips; the way she touched things, how she felt them. her perception began to change. something was happening in those soft, sensitive

  6. Mutual accuaintances. That’s how we met. I was at the party, so was he. Later I saw his face pop up on one of those “people you may know” things on facebook with like 4 mutual friends, all of them from different circles. I figured, why not. So I sent the request.
He accepted, not sure why. Maybe he felt like it was a good idea. Goddess knows, it wasn’t. It was a terrible idea.

  7. Mutual is shared experience and connection. One with another is a great way to see the world. To share means to connect truly with another person and see how one’s interests, activities and perceptions go further than yourself and can resonate with another’s being.

  8. what is a mutual understanding? Not many of us really know. I see it as an agreement between two people.
i hope to find mutual ground with my future spouse…and i feel my boyfriend is the one :) <3

  9. Mutual. I’m really starting to think that almost nothing is completely mutual. There’s always someone who’s in anything just a little more. In love, there’s always the lover who gave up more of their heart. In friendship, there’s always the friend that doesn’t call back. Mutual is a state of mind that makes scary things feel like their okay.

  10. If it is true that tears are the pain of the Gods, I guess our loathing was mutual on that day. I stood still, letting the water soak my flesh and chill my bones. After all, it comes from the Gods. Why not let it?

  11. some one that is a friend with some one else you have a mutual friend
    like on facebook

  12. I think about relationships when I see this word. Respect and appreciation should be mutual in a relationship. A relationship pertains of 2 people. Imagine them both leaning on one another. If one pulls away (lack of mutual respect/appreciation) the other falls flat. Mutual love and respect is ESSENTIAL for any growing relationship.

  13. friends, they broke up but it was mutual. Or so they said. But there was a long history and Andy knew that it was less than mutual. She knew she would always love Tess, for the rest of her life. Even if they were never the same again.

  14. Let’s not say what we are feeling for once. We’ve had too much of that, and we can already agree that our paths are taking us separate ways. I feel as if mine is littered with pebbles; yours with rocks. Soon, we will be stumbling by ourselves towards the unknown.

  15. It was raining. God and I shared a mutual despair that day, if what I have been told about God is true. He is benevolent, but also punishes people easily, and for no apparent reason.

    by Madelene on 10.18.2011
  16. Mutual respect is the first thing I thought of. Maybe it’s because right now I feel like i’m very inspired. I’ve gotten in touch with my core values and beleifs and i’ve realized that there is so much I have to learn about respect, dignity, life… everything. I think it’s a two way street though.. we all must learn how to connect with eachother. Mutually.

  17. The feeling was mutual. Both women needed to have someone hear their fears who understood the anxiety plaguing them both. As each woman told her tale, the other nodded, knowingly. Their fears had in common a kind of grip on the essence of both of their lives that was mutually crippling. No tale outdid the next. The stories kept coming, becoming more fearful at the telling. What can we do to get over this? Prayer? Suicide?

  18. The feeling is mutual. PT school hates me. I hate it. Its actually more of a love hate thing I suppose. I hate it but love it because I know it will be good for me someday. PT school just flat out hates me….so on second thought, perhaps the feeling is NOT mutual….

  21. The beauty of a handshake lies in the harmony of movement, two arms conjoined as one, undulating in a synchronized dance.

  22. A mutual relationship is one of those things that doesn’t happen very often, but when it does it’s awesome and shaky and uncertain and satisfying. There’s nothing more incredible about humans than our ability to work with and relate to others.

    by Liz on 10.18.2011
  23. Mutual friends meet at bars. They discuss the meaning of life due to the fact pineapples are standing unusually close with laser guns. Not to kill, to play a friendly game of laser tag nobody really wants to play. You could eat the pineapples but seeing as they are also mutual friends you choose to let them stand in peace.

  24. mutual love is the best kind, when two people feel the same way about eachother. It’s the most amazing feeling in the world, even if it only lasts a little while. I can’t imagine a world without mutual love, caring and trust. It changes a person’s life to love and be loved by another. Friends, family, partners in life. No one can live without them.

  26. I wasn’t quite sure. I mean, she was staring at me, and I was definitely oggling her, but there was just something missing…

there’s no way she has that much money. Regardless of all of the documents she put on my table, I just found it so hard to believe this young lady, 21 years old, could afford to buy out a company that way.

  27. respect. when i think of mutual i think of respect and feelings and relationships and how nothing works out unless the feeling is mutual. i think about curtis and how things weren’t mutual. obviously. along with every other relationship of mine. le sigh. forever alone. wow okaaaaaaaay i dont know how i got that out of mutual.

  28. We expressed mutual dislike when we saw each other, and we veered out of each other’s path like magnets with the same pole. I guess we were too alike to be friends.

    by Claire on 10.18.2011
  29. Sex and friendship can be complicated,
especially when you live together or work together.
what happens is the mind sticks to that thought pattern when you see each other and thus an awkward silence is born. it spreds across the people you know and all conversations become drawn into it. What he said what she said, i can’t beleive he did that oh my god.

  30. an agreement between two people. It is more about accepting things, especially people for who and what they are. It can ultimately lead to love because it takes time to make an honest agreement with another person. It creates a common threshold between two people that makes them stronger.

  31. I wish I knew how you felt about me and if this feeling is as mutual as i believe it to be. I want to believe that when you say you love me you say it to let me know and to remind me and not just out of a habit because that’s what it’s been like before and I don’t want that. seeing as we’re so erratic saying it i don’t think I have to worry about it. I hope you love me like I love you and that in a year when you go away I can come with you if not physically then mentally. please don’t make me let you go. please don’t think that leaving me will help anything. I love you.

  32. Mutual. A good thing right? Making friends because of friends? But then maybe not. Maybe mutual friends aren’t a good idea. What of you break up? Do you stay friends with those friends you’ve made? It’s hard to. They think they have to pick sides. What if they don’t pick you. What then?

    by Erica on 10.18.2011

  34. Their love was mutual, they loved each other so fully that maybe, the gods were envious. They never saw others as enemies, be cause they both, only saw each other only.
How could they forget, something like that.

  35. We have mutually agreed upon this. It is our decision. There is nothing you can do to change it. It is done. Mutual.

  36. mutual respect mutual love mutual masturbation. Is teh feeling really mutual? we have a mutual friend but does one person feel the same way about the person or feel more attracted to that person than the other? I really don’t know. How can we truely know that a feeling is mutual. it’s all subjective

  37. It is a mutual agreement that we have to cut the head off of zombies.
I mutually accept this agreement because zombies are bad and if we are not careful they will eat all the humans and take complete control of the world.

    by Proxima on 10.18.2011
  38. As though I couldn’t hold still any longer, he said it was mutual.

    Right.

I know you feel the same, I do. How can you not? You may watch the same sky as I do, you may pass with the same moments as I do, but when have we ever seen the same thing? When have I ever had the same split-second?

    Course. Mutual.
