  5. i lit the match. the flame cast a glow around the room unlike any i’d ever seen before. not that i’d never lit a match, i’d just never seen this beautiful girl in candlelight. her soft porcelain skin seemed almost translucent in the glowing light. her long dark lashes cast elegant shadows across her rosy cheeks. her molten gold hair seemed to twinkle in the candlelight like fireflies in the stagnant darkness that had once filled the room. i blew the candle out.

  6. Well, i reached for the match in order to start a fire but the match didn’t match the matchbook…that is it didn’t have the proper strike face and consequently couldn’t match the fire striker with the tip of the match. I guess the match effect just wasn’t my perfect match. on the other hand, Charlie had a good strike surface so his match striker matched my match.

I guess by match here I mean soul mate. I don’t even believe in soul mates. There is probably more than one person out there for you. You’re just lucky enough to find one of them.

  11. Match. Something that is similar to something else. Card games are made out of this, like Goldfish, and others I could mention but don’t care too. What I think when I hear the word match though is soemthing different, I think of compatablity between two people.

We’d fight, of course, and I’d know you were done fighting when you lit a match and lit your cigarette, but we loved each other all those years, and we couldn’t get enough of each other, that’s for sure.

Ahhh, such an eternal attraction. Just a little stick, a little bulge of something noxious, something dangerous. It’s ‘don’t touch that!’ and it’s the mystery of fire. What is this liquid dancer, always reaching up? Jeanie rub the lamp, fire rub the match.
