  1. Tell me, how much have you been able to eat today? Did you pack a lunch, or did your mom think you only needed two quarters for a sandwich again? You poor thing – here’s a juice box and some granola bars. No need to pay me back. If you’re too shy to sit with anyone, there’s a corner here that has plenty of books for you to read or music for you to listen to. I try to make this space a safe one, a comforting one.

  2. Finally -she grabbed her purse, I’ll see you later. The clock marked one twenty, she had half an hour to go and eat lunch. She left Alex talking alone but she was famished, no breakfast or dinner thanks to that blood test. A hamburger was coming her way.

  3. Even though it has been almost 6 years since I left high school, my conception of lunch always takes me to the cafeteria where I’m asking friends if they’ve finished their food.

  4. I ate my lunch in silencce. I was praying that the Earth would swallow me up before I had to end my lunch break, and face the boss. I knew I would probably be fired, but I didn’t want to face the inevitable.

  5. Today for lunch I had fish & chips with my father. It was good fish but the fries were not so good. Lunch is one of my favorite meals, I dislike breakfast the most, I like dinner, and sometimes I am too full for dessert but sometimes I like dessert if my grandmother makes something.

  6. lunch today was like any other. Getting my food from the stand, I scanned the cafeteria to find a place to sit. I was hoping preferably for a place in the corner, secluded from the rest of the place. But it seemed to be so full that that hope was shattered.

  7. She unfurled her brown paper bag, and saw why it was so much lighter than usual. Where a sandwich once sat—crisp lettuce, blushing roast beef, seedy mustard—lie a single sheet of paper. She lifted it up into the open and each of the five letters she saw held a weight of their own.
    Sorry.
Her eyelashes fluttered a few times before she crumpled the paper in her hands and popping it like candy into her mouth.
When a pair of pink cheeks swell with shame as they ask why, she turned to the thief and let him know
It was the most full she had been in years.

  8. He looked disgusted at his box. What had she indoors put inside it? Something soggy, indistinguishable from the result after he would have processed that food. No, he had it. She would not pack his lunch again.

  10. The best time of the day to look forward to in the new office. The beautiful scenic view, the chatter amongst pals are the most fun times. Delicious aromas are captivating to the eyes as well as the stomach.

  11. you never thought that it would be
so long since you sat down
    with your friends,
so long since you rejoiced in
    each other’s company.

    the lunch was years past,
    those school days
    you shared.

  12. Toting the brown bag to grade school. Getting a lunch box! What a status symbol. Equivalent to a car today. zbologna. Chips. Baggies, came before zip lock bags. Wax paper before the both of them.

  13. The ketchup dripped down his hands. Biting into the burger made him realize how long it had been. Ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard made him smile. Memories of his childhood flooded through his mind as he ate through his lunch. He treated the experience as if it were a gift and he was going to make the most of the moment. Along with the burger came the greasy, salty fries that he used to wipe up the ketchup from his hands and then popped into his mouth. How could it have been over a decade since his last burger? He couldn’t remember why but he knew that it had been ten long years since he tasted the delicacy and reminded himself not to wait so long next time.

  14. Well, I made my lunch for today. And for tomorrow.
    Meal preppin like a BOSS.

5 lbs down. 95 to go.

Trying out the Keto thing to try to get there. We’ll see how it goes, but it’s been pretty good so far.

    Looking forward to lunch.

  15. So I always forget to log in to the app here before I type my answer. I’m so anxious to get it typed out.

I think I should probably try the 750 words thing too because that’s probably closer to the length I need to be writing.

But this is good extemporaneous practice as well.

  16. Yesterday felt as if you were lunching on my heart and I didn’t even see you. I won’t see you for months. That’s fine. There’s a difference between who is wanted and who is chosen sometimes.

  17. He ate lunch at his desk everyday. He had never had a job where he had to think about how to enjoy a lunch break before so when he finally had a chance to explore that aspect of his work day he was at a loss. He was too old now to change how he felt about it.

Besides, even though he did want to ask her out to lunch on occasion he still could not. He was bound by so many things around him out of his control that it made pursuing even the simplest desires for human interaction seem impossible. It hurt to realize he had only ever spoken with her one on one once, and once simply was not enough.

  18. The quintessential lunches of my life were the food like objects served on orange plastic trays by the lunch ladies in the basement of the elementary school. Meat, weird mashed potatoes, and fudge. I remember picking around the hated green beans to consume a hot meal that resembled the meals of yore but that bore a strange, chemical, temporary flavor.

  19. Lunch.
What I ate for lunch varies each day.
Various ingredients make up my lunch.
From the simple sandwich, to the complexity of a good beef stew.
Sometimes, lunch is simply leftovers from dinner the night before.
Despite some hits and misses, lunch helps motivate people to continue
their day, while providing enough energy to work and play harder.

  20. It is fascinating to me how one small incident can spiral so quickly into something massive with a seemingly unstoppable force. One lunch lead to so much. She wanted to avoid it at the time. Avoidance was her strongest go-to move when it came to emotions after all, and this topic was tapping into her truest fear. However, she finally had a way to act against the greatest monster of her life. She was usually paralyzed and could take no action. It made her a nervous wreck, but she had to take the opportunity to confront it for his sake and for her own. Afterward, she was glad she had stepped up to the plate, but now it was time to go back to avoidance…. He used to be an escape (a fun distraction) for her, but now she was going to push him away like she did with everyone else……. That was the plan anyway………. Much to her surprise, he somehow grounded her. He tried to help her stop avoiding and looking for escapes. He helped her get a grip on her reality so she could live there instead of always wanting to fly away.

  21. They sat across from one another, the breeze tossing both their hair and their scents around them. She reached into your backpack to retrieve some hardtack, a bit of jerky, and a small apple. He looked on quizzically as she began to set them out. She beamed back at him, with a hint of mischief in her eye.

  22. She grabbed her bag and rushed over to where Nina was already sitting, swinging her legs in the air. “Got it.”
    “Great. What do you have?”
    “Peanut butter.”
    “Me too.”
    “Apple.”
    “I have a banana.”
    “That’s almost matching.”
    “But it’s not exact.”
    Cynthia rolled her eyes.

  23. “For lunch I want you” she demanded with a sly unselfish grin. “You, for lunch, on the table now, then we’ll have drinks.” I was just a little set back, not sure if this was a test. Or a payoff for the bullshit she already put me through. Either way I win.

  24. “It isn’t as if it makes a difference.” In all the times I have known her she will interrupt as soon as I am settled into work. She seems to have in instinct: my mind is focussed, probably for the first time that day, and she starts talking.

“I just want to make lunch. What do you want?”

“As I said, I don’t care. Just leave me alone.” All I wanted to do was block her out, I turned away. If I said more I would become angry.

“You get so grumpy when you’re hungry. If you don’t eat.”

  25. My stomach is rumbling , my mouth is drooling as the word appears right during my lunch time while I suppose to eat but typing this. How I wish to have somebody to serve me free lunch garnished with caviar and cheese from today till my last day. I should just sit and stay ; gobbling the food bolus into my trachea before extracted by the emilase to sucrose and further tortured by Mr. hydrochloric . Lol.I’m famished!
