  5. “Fuck. You.” I said calmly.
I stared at her for just a moment longer, her mouth forming a small ‘o.’
I turned so I didn’t enjoy the shock on her face any longer.
Silently opening the front door, I slipped out with any more words of parting.
I made my way down the sidewalk, mentally cataloging what I had in my backpack from school.
I didn’t hate her. I wish I did. She was an ignorant, selfish, she-demon with an obsession with playing the victim.
But she was my mother, so I loved her; and for that, I hated myself.
10 minutes later at the bus station, I bought a ticket for Atlanta on a whim. Far from that town.

  6. i don’t like people who claim to be irreverent. irreverent people don’t need to claim things, they just act the way they do and other people tag them with the word. a similar annoying sub-species is the hippie mamma who is always telling you how weird she is.

  7. Oh shoot.
Finally someone has taken the opportunity to make me appear the fool.
    As if anyone else cares.

  8. Disrespect. It is the culprit of society. This need to not be courteous on purpose but to be rude on purpose instead. It is a cry against God and “The way you were raised” Were you born in a barn? Take off that hat. Why is it so easy to be irreverent yet not to be nice. Maybe if we all try a little harder….

  9. if my knees were kissing the pews
    my lips were moving
    as if in prayer
would you still count it as worship?

(my hands would still be sinning
    though i’m at a loss
    to determine
what else you created them for.)

  10. The irreverent and rebellious. Those that dare to think and speak.

  11. mother says “it’s time for dinner” to the cheeky little monkey, playing on the swingset. he asks his mother “why?”, questioning her authority. “because I said so”, she replies. I was cheeky like him at that age. I think I was, anyway. or was I?
