  1. index cards hate them they get out of place – not really helpful. The index in the back of the book is not really helpful with this book I’m reading. A good inex can be wonderful

  6. the index page is something which i rarely use. Why would i really, it kinda ruins the whole reading a book activity. Though i suppose that it’s more for proper work books than reading books, but even then, don’t you think that you lose something important if you’re just skipping over everything to get to something that’s useful for you? What if the author makes a joke?

  7. I don’t have anything to say on the subject of index. I mean, with a word like that, one needs a little context, ya know? It’s just not striking me as something that would spark any creative juices. index. pah.

  9. Here’s a cool idea for a science experiment: Get a pair of white, Chuck Taylor hi-tops, an empty fish tank, and a few litres of cola. Fill the aquarium with cola, and drop in the Chucks. Leave them in for two weeks. Watch as fungus grows and your shoes become awesome. Chucksinsoda.com

  10. the index to my life can be found deep down inside

    by megan on 09.05.2009
  11. index tabs on grey card folders, sticking out of my filing cabinet. papers hurl themselves around willy-nilly as i stand and stare helplessly at the maelstrom that is my room.
sometimes a bit of controlled labelling isn’t so bad. papers into folders, folders into cabinet, kick it shut with a careless foot, and stare around at the miraculous slice of floor that’s been revealed.
sometimes, bureaucratic manifestations, i love you.

  12. Index.

  13. I search the book for a word, a topic, for hours. Still it evades me, but what’s this? My savior of studying, an index, quickly, I turn to it, letting its alphabetized words guide me through the book and find the topic that eludes me so.

  17. I go to the Index to look up the names of the forgotten. I find cross references to the blinded and maimed, with notes about the neglected and oppressed. This leads me to research the methods of torture, of intimidation, and I get engrossed in lists of massacres and pogroms, the colorful atrocities like blood sacrifices and child crusades. Then I break for lunch.

  24. index, huh? doesn’t appeal to my imagination much. Maybe I should build an index for my imagination, to help me find all the lovely little ideas in there, floating around in random lack of connection and order? If I had an indexed imagination, would it even be an imagination anymore?

  25. the index of my friend cannot be listed. everything is indexed to doom, the gloom cannot be reversed, the pages are cursed, it’s done. the book is over. you’re at the index in order to look back through what has already happened, but you cannot relive it. you can reread it, as a story, but never can it be relived.

  34. I was hoping I would have some warning. Like a table of contents, some kind of index, so I could prepare myself for what was to come. It has all been so sudden, not only I have no idea what’s coming, I don’t even know whether it’s a 600 page neverending story, a short novella, or even a fiction bite.
