  1. “Are you sorry for what you said?”

“I didn’t think it was that big of a deal.”

“Are you sorry for what you said?!”

“I REALLY don’t think my words had that big of an impact.”

“They had an impact on ME!” she cried out, tears in her eyes. “Okay? When you talk like – when you misgender me like that – LOUDLY – in a public space?! That has an impact on ME and MY identity! So are you SORRY?!”

  2. She braced herself against the dash board and closed her eyes.

    We’re FINE, Brandy. GOD.

Look, I didn’t know. It looked like you were going to hit them.

Could you trust me, for like longer than three minutes?

I do trust you, we were just going really fast, okay, God.

  3. I made an impact in people’s expectations of me. Their doubt is extinct, all that’s left is a crater of my coming to. I woke up in the blitz that took me, a swirling storm of bills and trauma. Well, what do you think of me now? The answer flies away in the wind, I’ve already left.

  5. Falling.

He couldn’t help but think of his kin, those who had been cast down long before him.

As he shifted, hiding Grace and Glory behind layers of Seidr and Stories, he wondered if the pain of hiding his true nature was at all comprable to having all of it ripped out.

    Had knowledge been worth it?
    Had autonomy been worth it?
    Had freedom been worth it?

The world below was teeming with life, with potential.
There were so many ideas waiting to be cultivated.
So many stories to be written.
So many adventures waiting to begin.

No matter how much he may look up to his brother, no matter how deeply he missed him, he would never be like him.
He could never disobey his Father’s orders.
He would never find the courage to abandon everything for the sake of his pride.

But he could see the appeal.

He could still choose his own path.
He would step back from it all, make his own decisions, mould his own destiny.

In that sense, he was more like his brother than he ever cared to admit.

When he finally crashed into a small grove of trees, he was left with eyes cast Heavenward, left to question his choices.

    Was it worth it?
    Was it the right course?
    Was he being foolhardy?

When a whimsical tone was calling his name however, he knew in an instant that he had chosen the correct path.

There was no greater joy in all the spheres than once more standing at his brother’s side.

  10. The rain came down in sheets, my wipers barely effecting the view through the windshield. I’m late, I’m late, I speed up trying to make it to the office before the security guard locks up. I can’t leave it there, they’ll find out everything. I thought back to the text on my phone, the photos, the mistakes I made. A screech-
