  1. She smiled ruefully, “I guess that’s why I ended up here, sitting in this office with you.” Carefully, she lifted the foam cup to her lips and blew, savoring the sweet scent of cocoa and warm honey, “It’s because we want to make history,” she murmured.

  2. What is my history? What is your history? Every single person, you’ve ever encountered, and ever will encounter, has their own history. Perhaps you know most of mine. Perhaps you know none of it. Perhaps you believe you know every single aspect of my history, when in reality, you know nothing. You sit there in your ignorance and believe you know everything, when you know nothing.

  5. A recollection of idead from the past of not only what one personally believes but finds important like history could be every detail of the past but we choose to minimize it to just facts.

    by Shanel Adams on 06.23.2011
  6. It was history. Rebekah Rose just knew as she watched Jerry walk away. She wanted to cry, but her throat remained normal. Shoot, was she so insensitive that she couldn’t even cry as she watched the last nine years walk away? The guy who had listened to her every petty complaint and comforted her when her parents divorced and helped her save the puppy she found last spring without one complaint or sarcastic comment — ever — was walking out of her life and she couldn’t even cry.

“Jerry,” she wanted to yell. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean it.”

She saw his hand go up to his face. Was — was Jerry crying? In those nine years, she had never ever seen him cry. She was always the one being comforted. And now, when he needed comforting, she couldn’t even go to him.

That in itself was enough to make her throat close up. Turning, she kicked the side of her house, hoping it would break her toe or something. She needed pain.

  7. I fell into a whole faster, and deeper than I could imagine. I started drinking, and smoking, and eventually smoking weed. But junior year of high school hit and the cocaine started. It spun out of control. My home town seemed to have an unbreakable hold on me, so I moved away. Away from all of the drugs, all of the alcohol, and away from the one person who held my heart so hard, they broke it.

I moved, so all of that… is history.

  8. whats past is past, for better or worse. we need to let things go. but somehow i cannot force myself to do that just yet.. i still love him as much as i did the first day i knew he was supposed to be mine.

  9. History, is made when we remember,
and tell the stories of what happened,
    major history,
    minor history,
    personal history,
history of a large group of people,
anything that happens can be history,
there are many types of history,
    web history,
    art history,
    all told
    all important
    all forms.

  10. History is a new world to discover and explore. It’s the past, it should be buried; but then again, history bubbles through my veins and drives me to keep trekking on, to keep discovering and exploring. History is the present’s greatest adventure.

  11. Everyone has their own personal history. This history can define who they are at the moment and who they will become. Sometimes, this history does nothing for the person but that is a flaw in the person, not their personal history.

  12. I used to Live in New York. Now I garden in Ohio. I used to go to plays and walk along the Hudson River. Now, I pack three children in the back of a 2001 Accord and sing Chris Tomlin all the way to… No place.

    No place like home.

  15. history is an amazing way to look at things in a different light in the present day. it helps you to understand the way things came to be, and how to make the future of tomorrow even better. us an individuals play a role in the way the world could be in the future. we should unite and see how success can be granted. history goes back farther than anyone can even remember, documentation kept us in the loop. It brings us to who we are today also as people. our cultures and beliefs. it can open up many doors into ourselves.

  16. History never repeats itself. The idea that you get chance, a second glance at anything is nothing more than simple human error. It’s only the grandiose, self-important nature of humanity that declares, “No worries. We’ll see this day again.” We should live like we’re making history; a series of moments that are both fleeting and precious enough to write about in books.

    by Delaine on 06.23.2011
  17. History. We all have history. I was just thinking about history the other day and how ironic it is when people refer to “historical facts”. The truth is that as time passes, facts become so distorted and details are lost in the dust and what we take for granted as fact is merely a shadow of the truth it was when it occurred. I think about how people read history and interpret history and I know that these events are not facts, they are merely observations.

    by JenJen on 06.23.2011
  18. history. has many definitions. every second of every day we are making history and we don’t even know it. 50 years down the road our events could end up in textbooks. i bet no one thought their stories would back in 1950.

  19. why do i
    keep on getting
    this damned word

i never even liked the subject
i’d rather look into the future and
    live in the present

everyone is obsessed about the past
    forget it, i say
    besides, it never really lasts

  20. I have a history of getting myself all worked up about getting things done. When I do that I get myself so I can’t think straight, and I can’t coordinate right — then I really can’t get things done very well. When I just keep moving forward, stop for a little fun here and there, then I always do much better! I have to keep teaching myself that lesson over and over. I wish history would teach me for once and for all!

  21. With history like theirs, it was amazing they hadn’t killed each other yet. They fought and fought, and somehow, at the end of the day, ended up in bed together.

  22. History can be very exciting to me. Especially if it has something to do with Rome. I am fascinated by old Roman tales. Nothing like Gods, war, and blood to get the brain moving, right?

    by Faebell on 06.23.2011
  23. It may have only been a few weeks ago, or a few months ago. But what happened then is now history. Nothing to be continued. Nothing to be said anymore. It happened. It was beautiful, wonderful, and splendid. I wish I could go back and relive it, but I can’t. History is to be viewed, remembered, and to learn from. If only this type of history between the two of us could last.

  24. it’s a long way
    but we’ll dance towards it
all the dances from the victorian times
    up till last year’s
    we’ll rewrite history
    paint it with our dance

  25. The history of the world is something so beautiful. Everybody thinks, even historians, that they know all about it. But we don’t know anything. Everything could be made up, false stories and prophecies that we take too literal. We just want something to hold onto. Even our history is cloudy in our minds. We’ve forgotten half of our past, so who’s to say we’ll remember tomorrow?

  26. Hisyory is a subject of which I love, especially Ancient Near East studies. I’ve always liked to study history because of what uses it has to us. Looking at the mistakes of the past helps to lead us towards a better future, which is something I am particularly fond of, a better tomorrow. History helps the world look through the eyes of our ancestors and deal with daily struggles.

  27. History – origin of the word – telling HIS story. What about HER story? Smaller, weaker, no political voice, no legal recognition of existence. The best thing that could happen would be to become a widow of a wealthy man, because then, and only then, could you control your own property and destiny.

  28. Funny how what I learned two seconds before a test can count for so much. Happy SAT scores day!

  29. It’s funny that the study of the past is called HIStory. And it’s also worthwhile to note that history has long been concerned with the exploits of men. However, women, from birth, were trained to not make waves, to behave and to do what they were told. It’s worth noting because well-behaved women seldom make history.

  30. History is mentioned by my professor as “his story”. Its essentially a list of events that happened in the present time and is recorded for safekeeping for future generations to read upon. History becomes an important study so that we may know what has happened in the past so we can make decisions in the present and predict the outcome of the future. History has an important role in our society because of this.

  31. the past or people who have lived before us. things that have effected us. Change in civilization.

    by Sam on 06.23.2011
  32. It’s what makes us sure of what we will do with our lives now. It can’t change, nobody is able to re-write it.

  33. The best thing about growing up is having more history in your veins, you experience; you learn, in hope to pass it on to other generations. Of course, this rarely happens. History is a difficult thing to teach, even one’s own.

  37. A long time ago on a tiny ship, there was a man. He didn’t know he would make history. He didn’t know that all people would ever remember about him would be the color of his hair. It was dark black and that made him stand out among a crew of hundreds of men with clean shaven heads. They had set sails weeks ago. The man had only accidentally been on that ship.
