  2. You harnessed the potential and you laid it out so beautifully. It’s hard to know how to get from here to there, she said. We all said something back. I don’t know what it was, though. Do you know what it was?

I think that if we just pick up the pieces, gather them up in our aprons, we could make something divine, something covered in dust but so spectacular. And the whole town would come to see it in our living room; we’d put out platters of vegetables and the glasses would be filled to the brim.

It would become so popular that the townspeople wouldn’t fit through the door; they would become huddled and sweaty, at first; then, in time, the crowd would push in on itself–implode into the center of the earth.

Our living room would be destroyed, then–the platters of vegetables would be uneatable, then.

    What a shame.

  3. Brock was like a harness for him; strong, durable, always secure, always right where he needed him. Rusty watched him sleep, watched his head bob up and down as he nodded off slowly, serenely for the first time in what must have been months. He stared at him and the way he seemed so at peace for once, so calm.

  4. One of the best times in my life was when I got my dog, Bella. We picked her up and then we headed out for the ride home. We all switched turns holding her. She was so special to us.

  5. The horse she loved so much , stood proudly with her brand new harness, as she walked with her owner; around the pen. They both allowed their eyes to take in the celebration of the day with great eagerness and excitement, while they strolled slowly into their place. Suddenly, the crowd that had gathered there to see them both perform, burst into clapping and cheers, sending anticipation chills down her spine, which carried thru to her horse.

She had not realized how tight she was now holding the new harness, so her horse began to fight it. Now, they both needed to get back what they knew was right, so as they could continue in the moments of this day of celebration. At this point the crowd had become silent at what they were seeing; they too were holding their breath; watching an amazing transformation happen right before their eyes. Both owner and horse were now, perfectly in sync with each other, portraying beautiful moves together, as they moved in harmony with their creators amazing orchestration of each move, until the music came to an end. They both were smiling and standing tall now, as the crowd erupted with greater cheers, clapping and now on their feet…a standing ovation that continued on for much more than anyone even anticipated or imagined; for such a time as this.

At the end of the day, they were back together at their barn, reliving the beauty of the moments of the day. They knew they were right where they were supposed to be, as she hugged Beauty’s neck and patted her nose. They both took in a breath and closed their eyes. Her heart and mind are full of love and stayed on her creator; she smiles deep: gratefully thankful his love light shines bright: always and forever; as well as, Beauty’s new harness that was hanging proudly on the wall of her stall, as the light reflected off her name. She is content, knowing it is well with her soul and drifts off to sleep with Beauty by her side.

Dedicated to my Grandson: Jaxon and Granddaughter: Natalie Jean.

  6. Harness the lightning.

Be careful, be gentle, let it flow around you and through you and guide it softly toward where you need it.

The bolts, crackling across the sky, will bend to your will, if you know exactly what you are doing.

    EXACTLY.

  9. Electric Man
    stands by the pole
    his hand on the pole
    his other in the sky
    pointing at the storm
“Here we go. Here we go.”

He will become famous for this
    this lightning capture,
    this surge into his muscles,
    this reshaping of molecules,
    this origin story,

    though
    it will kill
    him before
    he superheroes.
    Clothes burned up,
    wallet smoking,
    leaving only an open-mouthed
    smile.

    the papers
    name him
    Electric Man

  11. The power of potatoes. There were too many of them in the co-op all beginning to sprout.

    “Load them into the machine!”

The blades whirred. Potato bits flew everywhere. They bounced off my goggles.

“Are you sure this is safe?”

“You’ll never get anywhere, if you worry about safety.”

  12. Se puso bien el arnés y se acercó con serenidad al amante que le esperaba impaciente. El popper había hecho efecto.

  13. I can’t tell you how many times that bloody song rang through my head. Over and over, telling me that all that matters in the end is love. Well I’ll tell you what, there’s not a lot left to be done with or without love when you’re tying him up, cutting the plastic ties into his wrists and not even caring about his beautiful skin anymore. He made me this person. He did this to himself.

  14. This was scary. The last time she’d tried, she’d fallen flat on her face. It’d taken over a year to put herself back together. But he promised he wouldn’t let her fall this time. He promised he’d be there to catch her every time. So she opened her arms and heart and fell.

  15. I stood there feeling harnessed to these emotions. It was as if someone had placed a harness on me and was holding me back. I was a hostage to these emotions. They held me back.

  16. i had to use a harness on the plane-it was a seat belt

  17. You harnessed all your lies to my neck
weighing about thirty pounds too heavy,
you pushed me to the ground
and told me, “Girl, just stay steady”.

You proceeded to bagged up all your fears
bringing in a good forty plus
and threw it over my shoulders
questioning me, “Girl, what’s all the fuss?”

You then quickly netted all your guilt
to the sum of fifty pounds
and tied it all around my waist
and demanded me, “Girl, don’t make a sound.”

  18. I wanted my self-esteem. I wanted control back. I wanted to harness all my pent-up anxiety like a horse and save it for later, for something more productive and less damaging. I wanted to actually love my job again, but it was so hard when I was picturing scratch marks all along the walls, and angry words directed right between my eyes, like blunt bullets. They wouldn’t leave a hole or puncture, but they could certainly bruise or dent.

  19. his caramel skin remained supple even as he shed his harness and bolted over the fence
    bucking in the dappled sunlight
    winnying cries of freedom
