After I initially commented I seem to have clicked on the -Notify
me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now on every time a comment
is added I get four emails with the exact same comment.
Perhaps there is a way you are able to remove me from that service?

I thought the grate was secure on the ground before I passed over. It turns out this was my final mistake in my long journey to freedom. One simple grate that caused me to trip and thus – be noticed by the guards standing nearby.

Creak.
I lift open the grate, hoping for silence. I wince, and climb down into the darkness. Here things are not so sharp. They are so dark, so soft.
But the light penetrates with a creak, someone opening the grate.

My mother hates when the door grates when it is being opened or closed. She just hates the grating sounds of the door
