Jessie rolled her eyes and said, “It’s easy for you, what about me?”

Jessie was prepared and stared at her right back and said, “I can be popular too. It’s not like you are the most greatest and most beautiful .”
Amerist looked at her with an icy stare then her face loosened and she said, “Your right I am sorry. We are both perfect and beautiful in our own ways. Will you forgive me?”
Jessie quickly responded and said, “Of course, I don’t know what i would do without you.”
Jessie and Amerist hugged each other and they walked into the sunset together.

  10. This used to mean something different, like most things. How to get there from here. We sipped warm beer in her basement. Felt cobwebs winding around us by the second. We wanted to go somewhere to feel something, to touch someone or someone. With every passing moment we were closer to ‘there’, the places we dreamed of, the ultimate ecstasy.

  11. you need a gameplan. you’re told- repeatedly. well, screw it. you’re gonna wing this whole damn thing, just you watch. you’ll do better than those nerds who spent thirteen years or whatever preparing for this. you’re gonna kick some butt with absolutely no experience.

  12. Okay. Here’s the plan. You’ll stay over there and I’ll stay over here and nothing is going to happen between us, okay? Just stay on your side of the line and don’t talk to me. In fact, don’t look at me. That’ll be best. If we just stay completely away from each other.

  13. I need a new gameplan. One that doesn’t cause me to stress out about this set of hook and eyes or that tutu. I need to have some space from the ever-changing, mercurial whims of this mad director and her inability to communicate with more than 2 day notice. I’m done here.

  15. Books, folders, journals, page upon page of diagrams, drawings, words words words… As she scanned through them, gazing with an empty feeling in her chest, her eyes began to blur. The lines faded, the words scrambled, revealing themselves to her as what they truly were: meaningless.
    New gameplan: no gameplan.

  16. “All right, here’s the gameplan…” I wanted her to feel ensconced in my scheme, was though I could fold the two of us into a furtive, feminine intimacy. Mostly, I just wanted her to like me.

  18. I lay in bed, with this heavy blanket the same weight in the summer, winter, spring. The walls are gray and the floor carpeted white, the only sound the ticking of a plain black clock – not corrected for Daylight Savings time of course.

As I have done in recent years, this past Sunday I spent watching the clocks on my phone, computer, waiting for 1:59am to reverse back to an hour behind.

See these man-made chains. How we force time to bind us, less of a force of nature but simply a force to be conquered. What a war-mongering people we are.

  20. Festy slammed the map on the table. “This is it. Either we take this route, or face certain death!”

“Okay,” Copper said, dragging out the word. “This is all a little dramatic for a regular comic raid.”

“Argh!” Festy almost pulled out a clump of hair. “T-that girl… she’s down there!”

    “Yeah… so?”

“She kissed me! We need to avoid her at all costs.” Festy pulled up his chair to the table. “Here’s the plan–“

  21. We didn’t have much of a gameplan once the school burned down. Sure, we were all psyched to not have to go to classes anymore – it was only March, after all, and there just wasn’t enough room to house us on other campuses until next August. But now? Well, maybe we did take our education for granted.

The first two weeks were awesome – the gang ate pizza, played video games, and goofed around all while sleeping for twelve hours at a time. But then, oddly enough, we felt a strange sensation – we MISSED getting an education.

  23. Cracked helmets and ripped knee pads—he was never one for a plan of tip-toeing, the feigning, a grand embellishment of a dance that amounts to little more than a lie. As he cuts down the middle, he sees them sway and prance, Xs and Os on a whiteboard, little flitterings of future possibilities that stick to their designed path, unless of course, they chose to deviate—a secret promise unspoken, thusly relieved of responsibility to finish the play should another pirouette suffice instead. Dirt-clogged cleets rip up the green sea as he gets tangled in a web of ambiguous cunning spun over his head. Another cry out before his mouth guard is filled in with dirt more than teeth. Another stand, another sprint, until his torn uniform makes its way to the bench, a broken bit of helmet for each plan that made his head kiss the ground.
