There are so many fractures running through us. They break us apart and bring us together, and I’ve watched as we’ve begun to pick up the splintered pieces of ourselves. I miss when we were each whole, the only things connecting us were the hands we grasped tightly. Now there are memories; bad ones, good ones, melancholy ones, wow-I-just-want-to-drop-everything-and-kiss-you-ones. The memories have created fractures. We are stuck in the never-ending loop of pain, splinters of what we once were littering the ground before us.
I had just broken open my first geod. I was crouched down on the cool floor of the garage and was holding the weapon of choice for such a thing: a good, heavy hammer. On the floor infront of me were several pieces of geod. Fractured.
I don’t know what these are. What are fractures? Oh i remember now. broken bone. cast. six weeks. bones. pain. ouch. out of place. dangerous. never happened to me. owwie.

The pain of fracture. Not just a bone, but a fractured relationship, even if no one is at fault. It hurts to lose a friend due to circumstances beyond one’s control. Unfortunately, a mentor of mine has taken another position. I have grown close to this person, and it is unfortunate that I will not be able to repay her for all that she has taught me.
There are fractures in my heart. I don’t know when they got there or how long they have decided to stay, but I know you gave them to me. Whenever I think of the tone of your voice or the color of your irises the fractures grow larger, more painful.
