  1. He always skipped the number five. It was too round, too mainstream (although he was only two, his parents were hipsters.) It made for difficulties when he entered preschool but the teachers soon learned that, like another counting system had been developed, they just had to subtract one from whenever he said there were six or more.

  6. There were 5 reasons i wanted to leave Chicago. The first was the air quality. I never felt like I could breath in that place. Every minute a new smell would roll around, brought about by the wind rushing down the ravines in between the office buildings.

  10. is just another number but maybe this time it is special because it is there and what better reason is there than that? Other than just plain luck, but i don’t know just how lucky/unlucky that really is. Out of all the numbers there is, it was that one.

  13. five minutes, five days, five years. At the moment it’s all irrelevant right now, because I can’t seem to be here. I can’t seem to care. And all I want to do is dive headfirst into another obsession. Lose myself in another world of fascination. I fear that without doing so, I am nothing at all. Why do I feel so paper thin and almost non existent unless I am immersed into a great adventure, idea, or story.

    That’s crazy to think about.

    I mean, five whole years is like…a lot. I’ve thought about one year or maybe even two, but five… I’d be what, 21? Okay, maybe that’s not as bad as I thought.

  26. We have five fingers on each hand, which most people believe is why we use a base 10 number system (I learned recently there is a push for base 12 for Math Reasons).

    Five is the age when you become self-aware, and start to really understand and form critical thoughts, and Think Things.

  28. Five is a very interesting number. Cinq is the french word for 5, not many words have a “q” not followed by a “u”. I think that’s pretty special. Cinq also sounds like the word stank! As a child, instead of un deux trois quatre cinq six, I would say “un deux trois cat stink”.
