Sitting here, with you I can’t help but feel like theres nothing more important than this moment. I need you to know about this elm tree. it was planted when you were born and your mother passed. It was planted with her ashes, born from her like you. You are sisters.

Every day around one thirty, the group would convene at the elm tree outside the library, drinking lemonade out of glass bottles and tossing a beat up, purple frisbee around. One of the members had a dog – a little old Corgi that still had some stamina – and it would yap at the flying disc, trying in vain to jump up and catch it in its yellow teeth. I walked by the teenagers once I had gotten a couple of books, and one of them waved at me, though I wasn’t quite sure yet.

can’t quite find the word
sappy like drip down an elm tree
my heart is cliched
locked in a last day
waiting for a beat
lost in a moment
frozen free in time
but never again
til the deep breath ends
two people who don’t rhyme

The large elm tree was brooding. The small girl looked up at it’s branches, admiring how high they intertwined. Someday, she thought, she would climb those branches and see the ocean.

The song doesn’t go “Tie a yellow ribbon and around the old elm tree.” Even so, the summer halo dapples past the leaves. It’s time to…

elm tree. West elm. It’s an expensive store for rich white people. There was a nightmare on this street. But my favorite elm is by far Elm-o. Whelm. helm. mel. lemon. lemonade I can’t.

The elm-lined street made the town look like the stereotyped college town that it claimed itself to be in its brochures. In the autumn, the trees looked like a photo and people from the city came to take pictures. But then, the tree disease took over and within 5 years, all the trees were infected; while, the town tried to use chemicals to kill the disease, eventually all the trees died. Now the old houses looked naked along the bare streets. Then, the allegations started and the towns people had to endure another kind of nakedness, as the world stared directly at those things they were hiding for years.

The tree sat lonely at the top of the hill, Clouds hung low in the dreary grey sky, looming, waiting for something. anything. like a warning. A girl sat against the tree, tears running down her pale, crimson blush cheeks.

An elm tree sits alone with its uniqueness as each person is separated by their own unity.

The elm tree sat at the top of the hill, surrounded by evergreen trees. Clouds hung thick in the air, looming in the dark grey sky. They seemed like a warning to the girl who sat against the lonely elm. Tears running down her crimson cheeks.

There once was an ocean which raged upon the rocks where now no ocean beats ashore. Here there are only heat mirages for as far as the eye can see. Should a dense woodland forest have cause to spring up here the climate would have to change.
Off on a distant coast the black-green tide is turning, churning, all while cities and fields are burning, burning, burning.
Later the wandering one will find the fossilized, coral-encrusted statue in the roots of an old, old, old elm deep within the realm of a land where she’s not supposed to be.

The elm tree stands alone in its existence lie each individual person it has a purposse. It has meaning. Though it has no sense of belonging it surely has its greatness inquest to itself. It is beautiful strong yet shy. It has a peer unique to itself.
an elm tree stands tall. starring at me. can a tree judge? possible not but I could never know. the tree, like all else is equally unknowable to me in any meaningful sense. but regardless of me the elm tree continues to stand.

He didn’t know how he got here. When his eyes flashed open, almost as fast as his gasp for breath – his failed gasp for breath – all he could see were the roots of the elm below him. Eyes struggling upward, he saw the bare branches against the winter sky and the long length of the rope. A length as long as the drop below his feet.

It was a solitary elm tree. I sat underneath its branches as the trick o’ treaters scurried by. How come I found such comfort during this time of year? Was it because the tree and Halloween took me back to something I’d long forgotten?

Sitting below this Elm tree. Wish that you grow peacefully like this Elm tree. Or will you die fast.

her name was erin
this was a dozen years ago
when 10 dollars was a meal
and a salary was a hypothetical
but it was love, or at least what i assumed love was
the smiles as synthisizers played
oh, how i pretended i knew how do play
we walked in central park
with my long dead dog george
who coughed when we played catch
i should have known he wasn’t long for this world
a good dog
the central park smells
leo, my doorman let us in
reeking of elm
as if to say
it doesn’t matter
but that night
nothing else mattered
because when you’re 21
very little makes a difference
i still love you erin
but not because i love you
but because you’re an ideal i agree with.

Big, ancient, dappled in the light as stretched fingers of shadow cast olive hues onto the autumn leaves below. There was a spirit in this tree, I knew it. The leaves crunched beneath my bare feet. I opened my small palm and pressed it against her wrinkled bow. I closed my eyes, and I was sure I could feel her sigh as the wind played with my unbraided hair.

Elms are tall, elegant, flowing trees. They watch conversations rather than interrupt. They are graceful. They talk only to themselves. They are smooth and they resonate with music. Their hearts beat slowly. They have deep, hidden memories.
By Sam Wadham on 05.03.2016
the elm tree was incredible it was over 40 feet tall in height and was about a foot in diameter.

the giant elm tree in our backyard was very very old and was planted when my great great great grandfather was born.
The elms at the national park were very old and tall. They reached super high into the sky. But they didn’t even make up to the redwood trees at all.
I used to lie underneath this elm tree when I was young and gangly and my limbs were peppered with purple bruises. I used to hold your hand here. We carved our names into this tree. Did you know that elm trees symbolise strength and intuition? We used to lie here and think about what our lives would become. Who would we be? I lie here now but the years don’t roll back, they just keep going.

The huge branches of the elm reached out to what seemed like infinity. She stared up, her back pressed hard against the ground, staring into the patchwork of blue sky above her, giggling at nothing. This was contentment. Wasn’t it?
By Bridget Grace on 05.03.2016
I was looking up at the huge elm tree and imagined my self as this beast. I was statuesque and strong. I was a part of the Universe that cannot be harmed in any way. Just the way I wanted to be.

They sat by the elm tree, wanting to talk to each other for a while after the long walk. Neither of them knew what to say even though they waited for this moment for so long, the moment they would meet after years of not seeing each other.
They didn’t realize no words were needed, for everytime they shared a look they smiled and knew their feelings hadn’t changed over the years. Their hearts were at peace

It was made of elm, oak, and the melted hooves of a prized horse, favoured by some rich baron that lived over the hill. When the Baron’s house heard why he had asked for it, they offered to give him some tail hair from the same horse. But Turiahn wanted to use his own horse’s hair as a string, he just never had the heart to melt his best friends’ feet in a pot.

A plague of short sighted unimaginative beetles. Coppice the fuck out of all the elms and they’d be saved but sadly if the elms grow in range of the flight path the little bastards infect them with nasty fungus. I grew up in a country where my relatives spoke in hushed whispers of this beautiful working wood that is no longer available.

the girl met up with the boy under the huge elm tree it was the last time he would she her for three months he told her he loved her very much after he said that he took her in his arms and kissed her over and over thinking that they might be his last

My best friend lived on Elm Street in the small town where we grew up. If you did one of those “what’s my stripper name?” games. Hers would probably turn out alright, mine on the other hand wouldn’t. I grew up 3 miles away from her house, on Hwy 12. It also has a Route name, but I can’t remember.

The elm tree is a lovely one indeed. However, when it comes to spring time; what comes along with that lovely tree? Why, box elder beetles, of course! The black and orange lovelies will mate all over the place. Be prepared for them to take over your house. Even on the kitchen table they mate. So yes, yes, love that elm, but know that love bugs come with it.

The great elm tree stood up tall in our backyard, It was beautiful. Its leaves shone brightly under the bright sun. I would walk up to it and have lunch under its shade.

I quickly ran to the elm tree in my backyard, “She’ll never find me here.” I thought as I climbed higher and deeper towards the trunk. “Ready or not, here I come!” my sister exclaimed.

The girl looked at the elm tree, it was very large. It was super tall. She decided, this was the tree she was going to climb. As she neared the top a branch snapped beneath her feet. She plummeted to the ground, and died. THE END!!!!!!

Elm tree. West Elm, damn you for appropriating that beautiful tree my mind would have gone to before I started receiving those catalogues. I wonder how many elms were chopped down in the making of West Elm catalogues. Come to think of it, can’t even remember what West Elm sells.
