  2. I opened the doorknob slowly, as to make as little sound as possible. It was cold to the touch. The doorknob was an ornate, golden and shiny metal one; I wouldn’t even be surprised if all the doorknobs in this grand place were at least gold plated! I can smell the varnished wood, and as I open the study door the smell of stagnant air and dusty books.

  11. I recently saw that the knob down at a local coffeeshop (well not a knob, but those sort of bars, doorhandles you could say) had been frozen in place. The door could still be locked, but otherwise, there would be no turning of the knob. It would be frozen in an open position, for pushing and pulling. It would never truly remain shut again. Not in the real way. Or the bad way of shutting out that I’ve become accustomed to.

  12. It is usually round in shape and you can open doors with it. It is always attached to doors and is usually made from wood, metal or even plastic. Maybe most materials can make door knobs.

  14. Well, a doorknob. Without a doorknob, you could not possibly open the door. Well, maybe you could if you pushed the door with all you strength. But, I think without a doorknob, a door wouldn’t be a complete piece.

  15. Doorknobs placed on doors open things. Without doorknobs, no openings. I don’t think a lot about door knobs. I just reach out to open a door and instinctively my hand meets the doorknob and the door opens or closes. They fit so ever nicely in the contours of our hands do doorknobs. Not angular or spiky. Curvy, oval, round, wooden, metal. Cool, warm, used. Think of all the hands that have touched a doorknob…. All the stories of all those hands…..

  20. The doorknob was cold. No, cold is the wrong word. It was freezing. The golden oval that shined too bright against the sunshine flooding in from the window. A startling contrast compared to the heat radiating from our bed and his warm body, exhausted from our late night adventure.

  21. you just hold onto it or push it & it opens a door or cabinet. it can be decorative or boring, any color & it’s a knob for a door. i don’t know if you have any particular one in mind, but some door knobs can be very attractive. although in the past, i haven’t really thought much about a doorknob – iiiiiiii guess we just take them for granted.

  26. I already got doorknob. What is there to say about the word doorknob further than what I already wrote in my previous paragraph? It’s quite an odd work, what with its k and its plethora of o’s. Knob is a funny word as well. Often used as slang I find it quite hard to say in normal conversation without feeling odd; and door, what a strange word. If you stare at door it seems quite odd.

  37. Sometimes, I think about what it would be like to feel lonely. If I had chosen to stay, if I had chosen to keep my mouth shut. There’s a parallel universe out there where I’m with him, and we smile and laugh every day. We fight and make up. We love too much, and sometimes, not enough. But there’s only one universe where I’m happy, and it’s this one.

However, the world will be lost among cluster if the silver plated door is not opened. All that needs to be done is reach for the knob and twist but fear paralyzes every fiber and muscle.

  39. Is doorknob perhaps the origins of the slanderous term knob? or is it nob? And if so what horrible defect does a doorknob possess to call for such criticism. Personally I find them rather useful and sometimes witty. The witty part is a story for another time though.

  40. She slowly turned the doorknob, afraid of what was inside. The cellar was said to be haunted, because a man once murdered his family down there. Tragic, really. Her name was Jess, and she was known as a troublemaker… So when she got attacked and told her parents, they did not believe her. Then the same man who killed his family tried to kill THAT family! Oh… Wait… This sounds a lot like The Messengers… Oh yeah, I watched that last night. Haha nevermind.
