  12. “And how, precisely, do you propose we derive the meaning of this drivel without the key?” I asked, all but slamming the coded parchment into his chest.
He swallowed, pudgy hands rising to clutch at the paper as I stepped back. “I…I didn’t think of it, milady,” he admitted hesitantly.
“Of course you didn’t. And now,” I sighed, slumping into my chair with as much dignity as I could muster. “By the time we get a cipher, they’ll have changed the bloody code,”

  20. Most derive happiness from a structured lifestyle, a certain path set before them to walk. I say most, but I mean the girl I love most deeply. I am not like her, my happiness is in me somewhere, I just can’t seem to find it. I have started to think my path is a path to ride. To nowhere in particular, but to ride. Of course I dream of a Harley Davidson, but most likely it will be some half assed chopper that I think I spent too much for. An open road. Letting go of home, my relationship and my lucrative bartending gig. Living life in an extreme; I’ve never done that. I’ve always had money and opportunity to do and consume whatever I like within an out-stretched hand. I feel I need to need to grasp, to work and hope and dream and desire with all my heart. Maybe then I will feel I deserve a warm soup, a cozy bed and a woman who adores me. I am so young and fortunate that I feel I can’t name this ill feeling I’m feeling, but only then will I have been able to beat, to defeat these inner demons. These inner demons – even they are not worthy of me.

  28. Here’s everything I could write at work today,
so when I sit next to you, I can write everything I wanted to. I refuse to share anything with you with anyone else.

The clouds blood red orange like when we first talked about books and I had a clockwork orange
and said it was poorly written and knew it would interest you because you would think
that I was pretending to be a literary critic when I already knew I was just a literacy fanatic.
I was trying to tell you that I read into everything without telling you that I read into anything.
And that in the morning, I’m out of breath without even breathing.

Mm, oranges and red. Reminiscing on the sweet taste of summer, like when I showed up early
to work to see you before serving my sentence, and when I left my caramel notes next to your
    strawberry thoughts,
Does the clock work, orange? And we’d written about magnificent desolation for six months, literary
critics by declaration. But really we were constructing the cornerstones of our invisible cities, literacy
    fanatics by creation.

    Thanksgiving caught in the sky
And now I hold the sky in my dreamcatching eyes,

    SpareThoughts
    like thanksgiving got caught
I need a break, break from
    Ce matin
    I waited until no more..
I broke your tooth, I shattered your mouth
We will become every part of each other.

  31. This place I derived from, and now it’s gone. Forever. I stare at the black ashes on the ground before me. The flick of the last flame dies down. My eyes all glassy, blurred vision from the tears. My childhood home. Gone.

    by Carly on 11.26.2013
  32. Derive. What in the world does that mean. Why am I even doing this?! I have no idea. I wonder where it came from. Wo invented it? Maye Shakespeare. Shakespeare is a ghost in he maths classroom. He tapped my shoulder and swished Amritas hair. He also went inside Carly’s drink bottle and made it pop like popcorn. I like popcorn! Popcorn is good. Popcorn pops. That’s a stupid thing to say of course popcorn pops. That’s why it’s called POPcorn. Psshhh I knew that. There are different types of popcorn. Like kettle corn. And buttery corn. And rainbow corn. RAINBOWS AND BUTTERFLIES AND UNICORNS. Unicorns like pink liquorice. Pink liquorice has lots of sugar in it. There are so many names for sugar! Sugar is in almost everything. There is brown sugar and white sugar and rock sugar. Rocks are made o grains called minerals. They are chemical compounds. AHHHH NO SCIENCE.

  34. Today I day in class and I learnt about the word derive
I had no idea what it meant, the voices surrounding me
    Derive, derive
What does it mean, apparantly come from
I derive from my bed in the morning
    And the thoughts fall down
    Crushing my shoulders
    Just to come to school
    And learn about the word
    Derive.

  35. Derive. The dictionary definition is come from. I wonder where the word comes from. Where did the person come from? Where do we come from? And who created the word derive? It’s quite a boring word to be honest. Derive.

  36. Somehow I sit here in my English class thoughtless. I stare at this word challenge and do not know what to write. Derive. The chosen word. How can I not know the meaning. I feel stupid and uneducated however I keep this story to myself. No one must know…no one must see. Derive is the word that stuggles me. I ponder, I wonder how much I don’t know. But I shall keep going and proceed until my time is up. Tik tok…time won’t go faster! I wish my 60 seconds would be up. The time seems to drag on and is never ending. I wait for the countdown but it seems to never come. I desperately await for this horrible minute of my life to be over. I suppose I should just wait it out. Goodbye for now until tomorrow. For when another word is given to me.

  40. Where did you derive from?
    My life derived from you
And I know that, and have known that for as long as i remember because that is the first time I Discovered what my life was about… when I realized for the first time my life always felt Meaningful when I was with you
    And I mean that
And I wonder if you would think the same if you were asked the question
I really hope you would, and hope that I wouldn’t have to hope I would; that I would just know
Because the worst feeling is feeling a certain way about someone, and they don’t return the Same amount of feeling
