  1. A frill and adverse reaction to most holidays. It has encumbered numerous traditions and pageantry that is just a mockery of traditional culture and has no place in modern society. It is as worthless as religion.

  3. Some people buy really awful decorations. What are they really playing at? Too much gold and silver, and jesus glitter deer antlers? Why? And more to the point why do these people get money when they’re just gonna spend it on crap like this? I say, give the money to me, i’ve got plenty of tapestries and books to go buy. Thanks.

  4. I like to create decorations to put in my house. Sometimes I paint and hang the paintings on the wall. Other times i create things out of clay or objects I find around the house. I enjoy spending my time decorating my house with homemade and store bought decorations

  5. Wendy had gotten all of the decorations up for this year’s grandiose Halloween party. They weren’t the average orange and black streamers crimping at the edges, with cardboard skeletons folding in on themselves at the touch of the slightest wind. From the tables, the chairs, the fireplace, the TV – even the glasses, forks, and plates – everything was an array of skulls, bones, and shrouded spookiness.

  9. I wonder when people began decorating things… Why did they begin doing so in the first place? Were decorations akin to the piss stains other animals left on trees to mark their territory? Humans just couldn’t distinguish one smell of urine from another, so instead they marked their trees with specific designs?

  10. I decorated my life around your smile. Every time I see it, it radiates the world a little more. You’re all I think about ever, but your smile is my life. I miss you so much and haven’t seen you in years, but your smile is the decoration that still hangs over my bed like a ghost of you.

  11. Decorations are a funny thing, like the way my mother would sing in brackets into my ear as we would eat rain biscuits. Two biscuits at a time. Thirteen ambient tracks kept me above water. Was it a minute? I forgot. There are things that need forgetting.

  12. One day, a long time ago, I went to buy decorations for a Christmas party. It took me a while to get to town, since I live outside city limits, and when I got there, no one was to be seen. I walked to the city center, but yet there was no one outside. I soon learned why; it was 10 below! I got frostbite that day. Now, whenever it snows, I send my brother to get the decorations!

  19. Color which is filled with wonder blossoming in my eyes sparkling like the evening stars gazing over my head as i sleep a wonderous dream. Waking up to the morning burst of happiness and bewilderment gazing upon the room of eccentic like colors that catches my attention at the right moment. looking and seeking into the world of bright lights and painted walls. Tainted with extravagant designs natural beauty going along the lines of the pictured wall. Decorated into a frenzy that is not by my standards but none of the less grazes my view and stops me dead in my tracks. Whoever had done such a marvelous job at this beautiful creation deserves a special award. An award of happiness and success looking at their creation. Thinking how they did it and why but at the same token honored and proud of the magnificient decorations and art.

  20. Festivities. Sparkly. Tinsel or garland? Twinkly lights full of color, unless you live somewhere that only lets you use white lights. Not that white lights are bad. Kind of like faded fireflies. All of those lights glittering on the snow. So cold outside and yet so much warmth and cheerfulness inside.

  25. Sighing, I took down the old and completely worn Christmas decorations that have been proudly shown on my grandmother’s porch for 40 years. One of my favorites, a china doll Santa Claus had so much wear and tear, you couldn’t tell if it was a dog or a person. Both eyes were poked out by some sick prankster and there was lipstick and other makeup smeared all over it’s face from my 4 year old daughter.

However, is this really to increase festivity or a manner to boast our wealth .Because apart form happy decorations, we also have”sad” ones, think for example a funeral, that is decorate, but are you happy about that?

  31. I like to make sure a place is suitably decorated, It is nice to pretend that a room is something other than functional, something that does not make it exist as a frame of the purpose of what your doing. gives it a soul.

  32. Decorations are crucial to a successful event. I work for a catering company that puts much emphases on aesthetics. A decor team shows up at least two hours before the event to transform an empty room or an outdoor park area into a setting out of 27 dresses. We do this because any company can provide great food and exceptional service, but creating an almost enchanting atmosphere that emits elegance means a pleasant and memorable experience for clients. Which = more $$ and more customers.

  36. Lights, floating lights. They could have been candles or they could have been lamps– she couldn’t tell. Instead she walked on, down the hall, gazing up at the bright lights that danced overhead. The hall was otherwise dark and she avoided looking at the dark corners. She swallowed, her reverie momentarily interrupted.

  37. When I was little, I would spend hours making our Christmas decorations just perfect. We used to have to put the tree up one branch at a time and the lights by hand. But I loved it. I loved the nativity scene and all the old ornaments that my mother had made.

  38. no I do NOT want to do this word AGAIN! To me decorations are right now in my head to distract the eye from something that person thinks is ugly and wants to hide. Sure most people think it is to liven up the place

  39. My mom is crazy about decorations. And I thought it was just the way people did things. But it’s really really really not just that way. At all. My mom has brought my family and the way I think even to a certain level of classiness that I can only hope to replicate in my own future household. From the simple, metal american flag for the 4th of July, to giant Easter eggs to massive candy canes and a 12 foot tree, I am so lucky to have grown up with these lovely things around me. It has given me a special kind of love for the holidays and the ability to put my own finishing touch on projects. So, thanks mom.

  40. The decorations hung low in the tree. With an incandesent light shining out of the fireplace, none of us seemed happy to be there. After the past year’s events no one was looking for a festive, homely get-together
