  1. The kids sat in a row, waiting for their father. It was christmas eve, and he had called an hour earlier saying he had a special present. His little girls jumped eagerly when he burst through the door, escaping the cold.

  12. She sat down with one ankle crossed behind the other. This was not her scene. The grandeur that surrounded her in the Pimbley’s mansion was foreign to her pauper eyes. How she wished she could just be at home with her darlings.

    by Daryn on 08.31.2012
  13. I have friends. I do. Always have. But the problem is … they’re darlings. They’re my babies. I had five kids, so that I would have five friends. I wouldn’t need anyone to be my friend. But now I have five kids, and they have friends; friends that aren’t me. And I need to be more than just a friend to them. They have each other; I have no one. And now I’m alone more than ever.

  14. Darlings. A word for so many things. For your children. For your family. A word used when upper classed women talk to children and friends. “Oh, darlings. How lovely to see you.” “Oh, my darlings. Are you ok?” I actually imagine high classed women with tight, nice dresses and statement earrings when I write this post!

  18. The Darlings family had had a reunion for the night. Wendy Darling went back to her room and waited for the guest she had been waiting for 10 years. Peter Pan hadn’t shown up and she hadn’t been married. She was always waiting.

  19. It was time to do the deed and I still hadn’t the nerve to do it. Yet as I edged closer to them, I could only think of the liberty that their disappearance would grant me. So I bit my lip, closed my eyes and shoved the pillow in their face.

  24. The Darlings were a simple sort… always easy to get along with, never tough to make friends with. They were a species of their own, with their interesting beliefs and love. Making an idea turn into reality for the Darlings was exciting all in its own; they believed that if you knew what they were thinking, you should be considered a god of theirs.

  25. My darlings are beautiful. Kennedy, Emmanuella, Cassidy and Madison. They sparkle every time I see them. “No, put that down I said!” I find that I am pushy too. Maybe it was the way the way I was raised.

  26. My darlings are my family members, my friends, my colleagues. I love them and would like to give a hug to each every single day. They are my life, my joy, my everything. I live and breathe for them.

  28. The sparrows dance around the garden. The little darlings flight about with little care. They peck at the gravel below trying to find any seed that has fallen, while others hog the landing on the bird feeder. One is by the fountain, keeled over. His body has tweeted its last song. A eight year old asks his mother. “Why?”

  29. “Oh Darlings! Aren’t you just the cutest things!” The children glared at aunt Magdalena and refused to reply.

  30. “Hello, my darling” whispered the voice I had grown to know so well. His breath brushed along my collarbone and smelled rotten and foul. His teeth were gnarled and stuck out in every direction, displaying their rotten patches.
I try to close my eyes and convince myself that i’m dreaming. My eyelids float upwards and reveal to me his lanky hands as they creep up towards my neck. His twisted and spindly fingers brush against my pale skin, his lengthy nails digging in briefly. A shiver crawls up my spine as his skeletal frame draws even closer to me. His petrifying voice hisses, like so many times before, “This is not a dream. This is a nightmare.”

  31. “Oh the little darlings!” she cooed, “So adorable, we simply must take one home.”
“But sweetheart, we really haven’t the space…” his resignation was evident, he had no power in this situation.
“Oh the dark haired one… Oh no, I want the little one over there!”
“Lydia, we can’t afford to keep it.”
“Of course we can darling, we’re having this one.” She grabbed little Jimmy’s dirty hand and escorted him from the orphanage.

  32. When I hear the word darlings, I think of a couple that love each other a lot. I also think of two doves floating in the wind.

  36. Darlings is a word I don’t really know what it means. I don’t use it a lot but unfortunately, I gear it a lot from my friends (or at least my supposing friends). So actually, I can’t present to you anything more that the fact that it could be used to express a feeling, or the fact that today the most teenagers and adults use it in a weird non-understandable way, as they probably don’t understand the real meaning…

  37. Oil on canvas. Chubby little fingers, frozen in time clinging to the beautiful scene. Bright eyes and sweet smiles. Always there.

  38. Those little darlings met me at the door, barking their cute furry heads off and pushing each other out of the way to get the best pets! I put down my bags and gave each one a good greeting!
