  1. The crane swung back and forth through the evening sky as the driver sat, alert, in his chair. His arm tensed as his hand gripped the lever and pushed forward, then it began to descend. Reaching its location, the hook latched underneath a wire that was wrapped around the cargo holder and rose it in mid-air carefully. It stopped. And the entire machine jolted with the motion.

    “Careful, baby. Careful.” said the driver. He squinted his eyes as he looked up at the weather-beaten box.

  7. In 7th grade we stayed up all night making paper cranes. That was my first all-nighter. Folding paper after paper, eventually perfecting the skill. We suffered through the grogginess and the paper cuts, for 1000 paper cranes.

  8. It’s a type of bird, a crane is also a heavy machinerey instrements used on building sites. I guess they use them at Clear Lake to take the docks out for winter. I don’t see how they would do it with out a crane.

  12. It’s said that if you make a thousand paper cranes, that your wish come true. How does this work? Is it the dedication you put into those cranes that calls out to the universe to grant your wish? Maybe instead we should just work hard towards our goal instead of wishing for an easy way out.

  25. Does this mean crane like the machine? Or crane like the bird? When I was a kid my grandma read my a Dr. Suess book about a bird looking for its mother. It would ask “Are you my mother?” to different animals and objects. I remember it asked a crane. The crane didn’t answer.
