  1. My boyfriend was the one who got me away from the slew of them I had to do at my mom’s house. I was/ am Cinderella in the closest modern time. He saw me go from vibrant to being out of school and having too much on my plate and being so dragged down from all of it all the time. I’m so grateful to have him in my life, even if right now is entirely too stressful for the both of us…

  4. Chores are actually something that I wasn’t required to do growing up. My parents expected me to focus on education and academic studies. Plus being Romanian nearly guarantees that your mother’s second job (if she’s not a housewife) is to stay home and cook and clean…so I got out of chores :) But now I’m married…

  8. In spite of her extreme clumsiness, Mercè would continue to try to clean the living room.

That didn’t mean that she didn’t break any valuable heirlooms, however.

Because lots of those were broken.

  9. It is a chore to get up and go to work and smile and work with the girl who has everything you ever wanted in your life-everything. And you are just the girl in the corner who people don’t really say anything to. You’re just there and that’s it.

  10. chores are tiring sometimes but everyone needs to contribute to the house work. it’s only fair that everyone works together as a team to get everything done. everyone should work off each other and feed off each other toward a common goal of keeping the house clean. chores are an inevitable and neccesary part of growing up.

  11. Chores. I used to hate chores. I woud yell or hide, do anything, besides the chores my dear mother asked me to do. As I look back, I see how much my life has changed since those dreaded days of chores. I now look forward to doing chores, at least they give me something to fill my time up with.

  12. i’m not good at them.
i believe they are good for disciplinary reasons.
    nothing else.
im forced to do them by my sister everyday, when she shouts ‘wash the dishes’ i shout ‘YES!” and 10 minutes later i go downstairs to finish them up.
shes leaving to university next year i wont have to hear the word ‘wash the dishes!’ anymore.
but i think im still going to miss her shouting that.
its kind of one of the few things we say to each other.

  16. i hate chores. if i didn’t have to do them life would be great.
but the thing about chores is that you learn something from them.
my daddy taught me that chores keep you disciplined and make you responsible.
I should probably listen to my daddy more often, and i’ll probably regret not listening to him when I’m 32 and married…but right now I’m on this website writing about the word ‘chores’ . Because i don’t want to do chores.

    Cinderella broke down;
leaned her sweaty head against the wall,
    hugged her aching knees,
    and wept desperate tears onto
    bleeding knuckles.

  20. “Atilla the Hun,” the scruffy man thought. “She’s like Atilla the Hun in heels.” But he performed his chores for her so she could deal her tricks and bargains and dooms and delights. While it wasn’t much of a living, at least he was still living.

  21. This morning, I woke up to do chores. I woke up like I do everyday, but something was different. It wasn’t the weather, it wasn’t my house. It was me. That’s the miraculous thing about humans, isn’t it? No matter how similar our surroundings, we find a way to be different. To change overnight

She flicks her tail angrily and hisses, running to hide in her parent’s closet, only to get caught in the predicament of deciding between staying stuck forever or ‘coming out of the closet’. 31. Chores seem meaningless, but they are useful. God, an allowance should always come with chores. Indian parents don’t believe in allowance. They more believe in a raised hand, a stern voice, and a furrowed brow that makes most 10 year olds want to poop their pants. Chores. God, I hated chores. But at least I’m a clean kid, now.

  32. have to’s that find their way to the fork. What to eat, what to eat?

  33. Hate ’em and love them. I LOVE cleaning, but nothing that somehow relates to me. Like my kitchen…or my ROOM – yuck. But someone else’s HOUSE, oh god yes; I’ll do it. I never got paid for chores anyway, so it made them that much less appealing. I guess chores shouldn’t be rewarded because that’s your contribution. You can’t expect someone else to clean everything for you, if you wouldn’t do it yourself. Doing chores is a life lesson that’ll be continuously taught.

  40. I hate them, but in the end I feel a lot better because I feel like i’ve acomplished something. I also feel much more independent because I feel like I can handle myself better. Plus, I just love the feeling of a clean, nice room. It makes my whole attitude better. But, while I’m doing them, IT SUCKS.
