  26. I have been chasing you since the day you tied your heart to mine.
Of course, I didn’t have a choice at first. We were attached. I had to follow you everywhere. I didn’t mind. I was happy.
Then I started to love you but our hearts were still tied together so it was okay.
Then you cut the rope. I continued to follow. To chase you.
    I still love you.
    I will chase you forever.

  27. My head swerved from side-to-side, on immediate loook-out. I scanned the area. “All clear,” I muttered into my “watch”.
A gruff cough came from the watch. “Very well. Proceed– if you dare.” The old man’s voice filled me with anxiety.
I shivered at the thought that he was tracking down my every move with a specially-made GPS. I slipped into an old, abandoned building. It had been deserted for years– not just a couple, not even a decade. Actually, it was a couple of decades since anyone even dared to walk near it.
Inside, there was nothing. Only a white, chipping wall with cobwebs drapping them and a dusty, wooden floor with many loose floorboards.
I gulped. I was on a chase, after all. A chase that would never end until I found it. Until I found the priceless journal that belonged to the old man I was working for’s great-great-great, and yet again, great-grandfather.
Surprised? You shouldn’t be. I was in MI-5. No, I’m not British. But they hired me, and as long as I was paid and there was suspense and crime, it was a go.
“What was this place?” I wondered. I found that it was one room, no stairs. I questioned into my watch, “Where is it? In the floorboard, the walls, some secret room? I just want to get this over with. If I’m caught doing this, I’ll be dead!” I managed to keep a sharp whisper.
I could almost picture the old man on the other side of the line shaking his head, smiling. “Oh, my dear boy,” he wheezed, “That’s what you’re supposed to figure out. And you won’t get caught! You are in Paris… there are fancy shopping malls and movies and other junk here. I think most people would want to be there, not here in this dump!” He laughed. I knew he had a point, but you could never be sure.
I stood in the building for another half hour or so, completely silent. I was thinking, thinking about home. Thinking about how I was only 21, and I should be in college with my best bud, Ronnie Walterson.
I sighed and I knew I had to let it go. I started pounding on the walls, hoping they weren’t strong. They didn’t look strong, but they were sturdy enough to keep from falling down. I used every centimeter of my strength in my body, pounding those walls like nobody’s business.
“Rob, are you there? You’ve been quiet. Not like you, now is it?” The man’s voice crackled.
I lifted the watch. “Yeah, I’m good. Why’d you call?”
“There’s a certain part of the wall, I forgot to tell you, that will trigger security lines. I’m not sure if it still works, but they installed it just before they shut down. You know, the building. Be careful,” he warned.
    “I will. Over and out.”
I didn’t think it would work, and nothing happened already. I kept pounding, hitting, and scratching violently at the wall. Sweat dashed down from my face. After an hour or two later, I made it. I made it through the wall!
“And no alarm,” I thought, relieved.
As I reached in the wall, my hand caught hold of something. I pulled with all the strenghth I had left in me (which was barely any), and an old dusty book was in my hands. I had found it.
I was about to call the old man when the doors burst open. It was the French police, armed and ready to take on any exausted spy who stole a prized possession.

  40. I used to chase after everything I needed and wanted in life. That was exhausting. But when I learned to center myself I realize that all things come to me. Now I have so much more energy. And if something comes up that isn’t positive I don’t freak out too much. Taking the good with the bad saves a lot of energy.
