  1. When I get a chance, I need to check my phone that just vibrated. It’s going to be about a minute, but the suspense is already killing me. I grew up without one of these. How am I so attached now? That said, having one is still much better. I’m a realist, not one of these “things were better before technology” clowns (all of which have twitter accounts).

  2. Time, luck, thrill, chance–
all the deciders of our fate?
What about one greater than luck
    the perfecter of skills
    The creator and keeper
    of all talents
    great and small,
    known and secret?
    To bloom is intended,
    is beauty,
    is creation;
    to wither is needed,
    is natural,
    is determined–
    is purpose.

  3. Now I have ABBA stuck in my head: take a chance take a chance take a chance chance take a chance take a chance take a chance chance. I mean, really! That’s just embarrassing. To sleep, perchance to dream…..NOT of ABBA! Swedish ear worms…

  4. Matthew’s entire decision was based on the idea of giving Joel a chance.

And it wasn’t like Joel did anything horrible. Absolutely not.

But so soon after separating with Magdalena and the amount of emotion stress from it, Matthew wasn’t sure if he could handle the idea that Joel could hurt him in the end, as well.

  5. I’ve had those. Everyone has. Sometimes I wish I gave others some more chances, sometimes someone had thrown me the same opportunities I gave them. But nope. That’s life. It’s all a chance, you never know the ending until it’s already done.

  7. This is the time of my life.

    Now.

Or at least it could be once I get out of the bed. And take a shower. And get dressed.

Twenty minutes later, all of that is done.

Now I’m standing at the door, ready to take on the world.

Or am I? It’s only been a few days since the funeral. Is this what’s expected? What will people say and whisper? “Oh, isn’t she going to take time off?”

Well, I guess we’ll find out when I get there.

  15. If I took a chance on us, I’m afraid I might fall. I’ll take that final step and risk it all just to watch you walk away. We’re both too scared of things we don’t know to find out what could be. But I just want to take a chance on you and me. It could be something poetic. Something they write stories about in a time after ours. Or we could both just stay here, whispering in the dark.

  19. I only had one chance with her. I knew it was only one because she was already moving and dancing away from me, even know. I stuttered up to meet her, her limbs not the only thing dancing but her hair, her eyes. I want to freeze how she looked in that moment, in my one chance.

“Hi,” I said quietly and watched as she stilled for just a second.

I don’t remember the rest, do I look like the kind of person to read the fucking Bible? I don’t think so. Chance is, as they say, an attempt at something…and when it actually works, against all odds, you say, ‘Wow, that was really lucky!’ but you know you’d be wrong, because it’s actually a matter of pomp and circumstance, man. That’s all anything is.

  33. A chance can change the entirety of your life; all it takes is the simple courage to seize it. I’ve let chances take over my life to the point where it has become unrecognizable. Chances leave a plethora of opportunity for regret. A chance not taken can lead to a lifetime of what-ifs.
