  2. there was a concert happening in her view, at the edge of the horizon. she could hear the music. it sounded juicy and the harmonies were meaty. the baseline was a cello, one which moved from note to note like a slow tortoise. the cello wasn’t specifically in her view for the building was too far, but she could see its gleam of maple wood.

  5. Who knew that cellos could make such beautiful, soul inspiring sounds… she hadn’t ever listened to the cello played like this, this instrument was beyond anything that people could understand, it was something heavenly and hellish at the same time, it ripped time and space apart and created worlds in between, adn she was trapped in them, lost and rapt in love and beautyf for all the music in the world.

  7. I listened to his breathing, like the deep bass of a cello, and smiled. I slipped my lips along his neck and breathed over his skin. A guilty feeling drilled into me for a moment, before I realized that this might be my only hope of survival. I pressed my chest up against his and almost cursed when he dropped his hands a little lower on my back.

  8. The cello was old, it had been played by expert fingers nad held by novice hands, but it still had the longing and the spirit of beautiful music moving its body and soul. Now it was sitting int he attic, undisturbed for years, and noe one even knew who the previous owner had been. The new family rarely went to the attic except to thrwo in their old things, and the cello had been one of the many random objects covered in old, dusty moth bitten sheets.

  20. I started to play the cello. It was very big and my hands couldn’t fit all the way around it. Then I realised it wasn’t a guitar. Oh how silly I felt – even more silly after my fingers had finished bleeding. Time to stick my nails back on with some glue.

  29. She turned left as she left the hall, her cello held tightly against her chest. She wasn’t sure if she had been good enough, she was wracked with self doubt…. would they call her back, would this be the end of her career, a tear slipped down her cheek…..

  31. The cello is a beautiful instrument, all sensuous curves and fine carving. There are few straight lines in the cello, except for its strings, and it seems odd to me that you would be able to wring such fine, curved music from such sharp lines. It seems incongruous, contradictory even, yet this is how the cello makes such beautiful music. Curved wood and straight wire combined to make beautiful sounds.

  40. the cello sounds like an organ that has gone south. It sounds like the wrong way in a train tunnel. You could use the cello to call for all the lonely cats in the world, and maybe…just maybe they’ll come, one by one yowling after you and your stringed call.
