  2. I was boxing up the memories of a life gone by, complete with the love of a man I would never see again, when the chime of my email inbox rang. I considered oh-so-briefly to just ignore it. But newly single and feeling like I could use a little companionship – even of the virtual variety – I got up to check. Coin toss: real person or real spam. Either way it would take me away from the task of matching his socks and deciding which of his CDs I would keep instead of return.

  5. boxing up everything in their two bedroom apartment was the most difficult thing out of the whole ordeal. watching him lie in the hospital bed breathing his last breath was hard enough. but packing away their life together, standing alone in the empty apartment made her feel even more empty.

  7. I lved to watch muhammad ali and all of his boxing skills in the early 1970s with my Dad. Back then it was big event and thinkin gon these days makes me remember him. I like remembering him now that he is gone. Many try to avioid a conversation about him but I find it is extremely cathartic when I get to talk about him.

  8. my stepfather used to love boxing. i could never understand why people would enjoy smashing each other’s faces in. and paying to see it. i think they all got brain damaged. just look at mohammad ali. i wish my stepfather would’ve gotten his face bashed in. i wish i could’ve bashed his face in. i could’ve used some boxing gloves back then.

  20. Boxing your ears (hitting someone in the ears, probably related to “upside your head”).

    Boxing day … someone said it was when rich people boxed up things they didn’t need and gave it to poor people. I always thought it was the day you boxed up stuff you didn’t want from Christmas and took it back to the store!

  26. It wasn’t boxing, it was street fighting, and from the looks of it, they were trying to kill each other. The only thing that could be said was that they weren’t using weapons. They were duking it out old school. I don’t think anyone even bothered to call 9-1-1.

  30. Boxing isn’t something i grew up watching as a child. My father was always a fan, but I never understood the fascination. I somehow always confused it with professional wrestling, never understanding which was real and which was fake. I’ve never looked into it.

  33. Day…The day after Christmas when all of the leftovers were traditionally boxed up for the servants and needy. In one way, a very nice tradition that both refuses waste and also helps those less fortunate. In another sense, it seems to accentuate and tokenise the differences that exist between the classes at a time when such differences are already incredibly obvious.

  39. the sport of boxing was made a long time ago, I don’t know the specifics about it. I think some people even believe that the sport came to be after watching kangaroo’s ‘box’ with each other. Boxing involves putting on gloves and sparing with each other, the gloves protect the hands as well as the opponent.
