  1. My mom told me tales of the dead. They emerged slowly from the swamp cities and marshes. That’s where I grew up, down south. I was too smart for my own good. My daddy played the banjo on our porch as I slept to the sound of the crickets and the banjo. But Like I said I was too smart…

  11. banjos are pretty much the most annoying instrument, attributed to the hillbillies of society and their obsessive twanging on the obnoxious wannabe guitar. It makes me want to sleep in a pile of straw with some pigs to keep me warm at night. is that healthy? i wouldn’t imagine so. My mother think’s im critical, that its ridiculous for me to say that banjos are the scum of the music world…but i think we all can agree, they really really are.

  29. We used to keep a banjo in our basement.
    It had two broken strings.
It would stay there and taunt me.
I always wanted to learn how to play it.
    I never did.
He took it when he left.

I never learned to play it.

  31. A bango is an instrument that was played way back in the day by people down in the south.. it is simple. a few strings and a cheaply made guitar looking thing. people can buy them now adays in any musical store, for much more expensively than they used to me. they used to just be home made.

  35. there was no time left and he couldn’t believe what happened next. timothy grabbed his banjo and with no hesitation whatsoever, he started playing his little heart’s anthem on that wooden instrument. The banjo — like no other — let him remember all that lovely newfie fun he had as a kid.

  37. Banjos remind me of twangy country music voices, and that annoying radio station that my dad always has playing when I come home. Banjos don’t even compare to playing bass; bass is one oft he most important and overlooked instruments, you know. Love the bass players.

  40. She was in a coma last year. At the time, I felt depression augmented from a few months prior. I was encapsulated within my friends’ love. Odes to banjos, pic texts of bad parkers, Pink Floyd everywhere. My bubble shattered. I didn’t know where I was when she left. She taught me to leave my box and into this world I entered prior to the figurative crash.
