  7. Balm. Lip Balm? Balmy beaches? Reminds me of the ocean, the vast, blue diamond ocean. Home to all nautical creatures. The one that comes to mind is not real–a mermaid. I wrote a story about one once. She died in the end. Her name was ruby. Funny, i think i’ll pick up on that story.

  9. She took the balm and rubbed it on my chest, the sweet aroma of Vick’s burning my nose and clearing out my sinuses. Thanks, Mom, for making something so foul-smelling such a sweet antidote. Too bad that now every time my girlfriend tries to rub lube on my johnson that I can’t stop thinking about my mother. Nevermind that I’m a preemie anyway, but now I’ve got this whole mother complex. Thanks, Mom.

your lover slept with my lover. i thought you should know. the ease of communications through facebook made this revelation easy to do, requiring little thought, little effort, little care of the fallout that would occur.

  38. It was a balm to her spirit. THe love of a hand on her, the wind flapping on her skin. She could see the beach, the trees, the sunset. It was all so peaceful. It wouldn’t last. But maybe, maybe she could take this with her, the feel of a loving touch, the caress of a breeze. A healing on her spirit, as needed as food or air.
