  5. Apple. A sweet, sometimes sour tasting fruit borrowed for many a work of fiction, as a metaphor for this and that.

  6. “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”

Actually, no, it doesn’t, but that doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to one everyday. So tasty!

  7. She bit into the skin, juice bursting into her mouth. She laughed, wiping her chin. “Oh, wow, I forgot how good these tasted.”
Sylvia laughed too, her hands already sticky with the syrupy juice of the apple. “Really? It’s all I’ve been thinking about.”

  8. She couldn’t eat the food with salt and milk.

So i brought her an apple.

  9. I like apples. In bork, there are some apple trees near the road that leads into the forest. They don’t belong to anyone. So in fall we often collect those apples. They are very good and we have enough for the whole winter.

  10. The apple fell from the tree in the light of a gentle sunset. It caught a last glimpse of the sun as it fell, the sun it had seen for so many days as it hung suspended from the tree.
    “Goodbye…”

  11. Was it something the apple farmer’s said when they realised they could make a buck? Like ‘you need to drink milk if you want good bones’? Or ‘you’ll never grow up like a strong man if you don’t eat beef?” An apple a day doesn’t keep the doctor away. I should know, I’m a doctor and I’m still here.

  12. We all stole from Jobs’s tree of knowledge. Half of us write this on a mac book as the info-rhizome of congolese minerals, chinese slave labour and californian hot air suck the nutrients out of the larger picture. The world is dying to keep in touch with itself.

  13. “It’s an apple.”
“It’s not just any apple it’s…”
“It’s an apple you picked up from the floor.”
“Yes, I admit it was on the floor, but that doesn’t make it any less… magical.”
    “A magical apple?”
    “yes.”
    “that was on the floor?”
    “A magical floor apple”

  17. I fished an apple out of the barrel in the grocery store and began to eat it before I even got to the register. I handed the bewildered cashier two dollars, told her to keep the change, and chucked the greenish-red core into the nearest bin before propping my stiff body against the nearest brick wall, sighing as the chewed fruit began to settle in my stomach like a sweet stone.

  18. Sitting on the window sill with no hope of getting ripe. At least in my mind, that is the apple. When I tried to take a bit, it nearly bit back, not prepared to be enjoyed by me or anyone else at all. I shrugged at its resistance; I understood it. At 13 years old, I pretty much felt the same way. Just got my period, pimples all over the place, two brothers who looked at women as something wet and ready to pounce on (love, are you kidding), thinking, So this is what’s waiting for me, I’m supposed to like that right? But that’s the me who is trying to be normal and pretend that I don’t know much about sex or what men do or even what they look like under their long pants with the slit in the front where they take it out to pee, which is pretty much the only thing they know how to do with it from what I hear. But the truth is, i know a lot more about men and that thing than anyone knows. I don’t even tell myself what I know; there are two of me, living in separate places with different ideas and these two don’t speak to each other very much. It’s the way it is. If I could, I’d sit on the window sill for the rest of my life, telling anyone who tries anything to put me back. Now.

  19. My son was eating an apple today as we went for a midday walk; he’s four and wanted to bring it with him in case he got hungry. He asked for a bite and he was so stingy! Finally, he relented. I’m actually not the greatest at eating fruit, especially for someone who insists my child eat it by the handful. When I took that first bite, it was unbelievably delicious–it was as if I had forgotten. I really should eat more fruit. And drink more water. C’mon, Ash.

  20. There used to be two apple trees where I used to live, their branches hanging over the fence from the neighboring house. We used to eat, throw, play with them, acting like they’d always be there. They were always there, but we weren’t. We left the apple trees, and now we don’t know whether they live on or not. We just know that there were apple trees at one point, and we were there to enjoy them.

  21. Apples to apples, funk to fyoonky, we know Apple-Jack’s a dookie. He’s strung out on heaven’s milk while hitting an all time blow.

  22. The apple was on the shelf. It looked like it had been just put there, the coldness of the fruit causing condensation from the muggy weather in the city. She looked around. There was no one to be seen. She reached out for it, imagining its coolness against her teeth, the sweetness of its taste. But as she laid her hand on the apple, a thick male hand grabbed her wrist.

  23. I offered you an apple, you took it apart peeling the flesh sliced into the nectar juice spilling all over the floor ambrosia nectar dripping through the cracks of the wood then grabbed the core chewed it up and called it bitterness

  24. once upon a time, there was a worm and he lived inside of an apple! it was mostly very sticky and juicy and he HATED it. so one day he blasted through the side into the soil and lived happily ever after. But there was still a boy who was very very sad because his apple had a hole in it.
