  1. what in the world is an alarmist? I dont understand… hows about an alarmist is someone who goes around town and alrams people, like sybile luddington or whoever.. alarm alarm! ahh! get ready for this! alarm alarm!

  2. Alarming. I look outside the window and see a dark shadow, pacing back and forth across my yard. I wake my husband up and I ask do you see this? Who is that in our back yard? He simply sat up and replied, your just being an alarmist now come back to bed.

  3. I have no idea what this word means. But I don’t like the sound of it. You see, I prefer words which have more ‘fun’ to them, some Y’s and G’s popped in there… Oh I do love a word which involves a good few Y’s and G’s.!

  4. Walking down a alley. It’s 9pm. The streets are emptying quickly as passerby’s rush home from work. What’s that? A sudden sound. A flash of shadow. You try to rationalize but jump to the worst conclusion anyway.

  5. Something was after me. I could tell, a gentle brush of air grasping at my neck, gripping and tugging at me until I couldn’t move; couldn’t breath. His fingers ran down my arm, teasing me, almost as if he was a harmless threat that meant no harm. Lies.

    It moves up, from my neck to my cheek, a gentle caress before moving back. I felt the air escape me, my body flying, tempting me to let go.

    I flew.

  6. we were just finishing the drive to the cliffs when Sarah began shouting about all the deaths she had heard surrounding the climbs. We told her she was just being dramatic, if anything serious were to happen they would have closed the trails long ago. “Seriously, we could die,” she sighed. What an alarmist.

  7. “I saw it on the TV!” she screamed, while throwing whatever items her hands touched into the duffel bag. “They said we have to evacuate immediately!”

    I watched her operate from panic and tried to think of what to say that might call her down.

    “Let’s be rational. You know the government is alarmist at times. If it were that bad, they would have taken the president to a secret location. Right?”

    She stopped tugging at the zipper on the overstuffed bag and looked at me.

    “They did that two hours ago.”

    I shoved her out of the way and bolted to the closet to grab another bag. Shit just got real.

  8. and everything simply stopped. It was an amazing yet alarming thing. She couldn’t move. She didn’t want to move. Everything felt right but wrong all at the same time.

    “WON’T SOMEONE HELP ME?” She cried out in a loud voice. “PLEASE! ANYONE!”

  10. Something was out of order. I heard a noise; a sound, a gentle creek. Something was here, something was following me. I wasn’t sure what, but I was sure it was the end of me.

    It was around my throat, grasping and pulling until all the air escaped me. I was gone.

  13. he is such an alarmist.. always making a fuzz out of notting at all. If he’d stay at easy he could probably enjor the best simple pleasures life has yet to offer. instead he holds on to what a possible worst case scenario could be, missing what is, or what could be done

  14. Alarmist. My best friend is an alarmist. The simplest situation amazes her. Well-known drama is something to shout about. She exaggerates everything. This is why she is my best friend. My bestfriend, the alarmist.

  20. my alarm sparks a whole new realization every day, the worry caused that just cant be taken any more. the alarmist tries to stop. doesn’t. but i am not. you are for saying i am.

  21. it was about the way he walked away, his judgmental nature and the selfishness that was all too obvious. In the end, he was an alarmist whom i had never known before, a different person altogether and oh, i saw the signs.

  22. Alarmist? Like the boy who cried wolf, I realized, after quickly looking up the word in the dictionary. Making mountains out of mole hills, the person we all become after a long day, long week, long month, long year. This is one of my worst writing blurbs on this site… I have to go eat lunch.

  23. That is a scary word. Alarmist. It shows someone who fears, who is alarmed or who alarms people. I actually have no idea what the word actually means, but I am assuming. That scares me. Alarms me even.

  29. An alarmist is someone who is to preoccupied with fears of the future to focus on the here and the now; someone who is terrified of losing the ones they love, of losing life. Someone who can’t be happy or calm no matter how hard they try without medication. Someone like me.

  31. Once upon a time, there was a girl who loved to pull pranks. One day, when she went to the movies with her friends, she yelled out “Fire!”

    People thought it was real and so they left the movie theather, freaking out. She had a kick out of it until there actually was a fire. Everyone who left survived but being in the room, she ended up dying instead.

    And so, after her death, there was a funeral, but nobody came because of her dreaded prank that became real.

  37. he was quit the alarmist. my favorite way to wake up was anything he did to my body. he always sneaked up on me, woke up before I could beat him to it, and thought of the most creative, sexy, lovely ways to bring me to opening my eyes each morning. it’s like he could sit there watching me sleep, and read my dreams. he just always knew what I wanted him to do to me, even if he’d never done it before, even if I never told him.

  39. Alarmist, are we talking like, someone who creates alarms, or someone who causes people to be alarmed? Perhaps a member of the public who is permanently alarmed, like, WOAH NELLY, THAT GUY IS WEARING A GREEN T-SHIRT! I’m not quite sure though… alarmist..
