Charging towards my dreams with the speed of light, and the escape velocity of the earth.

I am charging with energy today. The sun is out, the wind has ceased to send chills down my spine, and the fresh odour of rainwater is tickling my olfactory senses. The koels and mynahs are cooing and chirping to one another.

They raised their glass to toast, while Krithika raised hers to mourn. She groaned inwardly, knowing it would soothe and cause suffering at the same time.

A tipsy gypsy sat on the Great Wall of China,
Tipsy gypsy had a great glass of vodka,
tipsy gypsy took a swig of the poison,
and waved to the locals, “All hail America!”

You can’t always be vocal about your fears to people, even if they are your closest friends. Yet, your actions may deceive you without your knowledge.

A flash of green against the orange-pink of the sky as a flock of parrots flew above, cutting through the clouds before sunset.

I’d never been much of a planter. Be it planting roses in the backyard or the seeds of an idea in another’s mind. But, Yashima, one could tell was not a novice to either. As she plowed the mud from an earthen pot, and sowed flower seeds, she spoke of withering buds, greying climate and how in her clan it meant a slowly approaching destruction. “Remember the boy consumed by a bacteria? I saw it on the news.”

“You mean the Zika virus?” asked the owner.

“Yes yes,” she added, softly. “He lived in the east. Not far from here.”

I was at the shopping plaza when I heard an ear-splitting sound, felt a reverberating thud and a second later, heard people howling. The air was filled with smoke, choking me and burning my eyes. In an instant a luxurious building had turned into a post-apocalyptic battleground of a dystopian novel.

There was a conspiracy brewing right in the heart of the organization. The committee was to go on a rally the next day, and rumour had it that the one heading the south front would end up dead.

Tumbling and bumbling, and falling head over heels in love, we’re trying to swim, keep afloat and make it to the other end of the ocean. Dodging major bullets, and holding onto parachutes, the matters of the heart are hard to figure.

The importance of birth is only understood when one loses a significant someone to death, or when death brushes up against us so closely that we realize we were born to live, love and laugh. And that birth and death is a continuous cycle.

The mood was grim. The house was empty, with just a circle of wind hustling in from the open back door. Nobody cared to lock it anymore. The real treasures of the house were only seen by it’s people. But even in their death, their souls found their way back to guard it. A second circle of wind gushed inside, much thicker than the previous. A treacherous circle of wind banged the door back and forth, back and forth, raging, as if it was punishing the old wooden sheet of the door. Finally, everything came to a gloomy halt as a tiny puff of air rushed into the house.

“God! I just don’t know if it’s real or artificial. You know?”
“What do you mean? How can it be artificial? How can anyone fake love?”
“I don’t know, it’s just a gut feeling…of something amiss… something fake… something real. Like you so badly want it to be real, yet there are so many complicated issues that haven’t resolved, and you’re magically shoving them under the carpet to make it feel like a fairy tale… Have you ever felt like that about anyone?”
“Not in the least bit! Are you drunk?”
“No, just love drunk and sleepless.”

“Everybody’s heard of the Big Fat Indian Wedding, of course? Haven’t they?” pointed out Anayra sarcastically to her aunts and their friends from the foreign country who were looking at her flabbergast. She was being made to wear a ton of jewelry, her body swimming in layers of silk. But there was not a speck of love in the air.

Oh! All the ornaments she would make of them. Leela held the pearls from the foreign land tightly in her fist.

Ornaments of gold shimmered on her, taking one’s attention away from her tear stained eyes. She had become the new queen, after her mother. Her duties would begin whether she was ready for them or not, she would have no time to mourn.

I often wonder what it is that I have to offer to this world? And often only one answer stands out-my writing. My creativity is the only single thing that I possess. And therefore, I can offer it to the world. My view- the way I perceive things. I can stand back and look at my own life and the ones surrounding me only when I sit down to write. That’s the gift I possess. That’s the gift I want to enhance. And that’s the gift I want to entertain people with. Writing is a channel for letting go of one’s sorrows and welcome peace and lasting happiness.

This morning when I sat down to write, I realized my thoughts are scattered everywhere, just like the clothes on my bed. Ergo, I began to organize my bed.

Dark, grey clouds marked the skies this morning, reflecting my mood from last night. I felt as though I had woken up in the middle of the night. I rubbed my eyes and went to the kitchen. I poured myself a glass of water, half spilling on the counter and half on my T-shirt.

July 15th marked the birth of my first novel. I don’t remember a time when I was more excited in life. The date will surely be etched in my memory forever. However, there is also a fear seeping in that I want to get rid of.

I sometimes feel our metabolism also depends on our mood. It’s not just a physical thing, it’s also a mental thing. When one is in a happy state of mind, the metabolic rate is automatically high, and when one is sad, it has drastic effects on the metabolic rate.
