The Mayor stood, happy to finished with parade part of his day, and watched the kids run through the maze course his assistant insisted would finish the festivities with a florish. “I hate this crap” he mumbled to no one in particular.

What the hell kind of a word is bitten if you’re not willing to write about vampires? I was bitten by the love bug? The girl was bitten by a rattler on her way through the meadow? It just doesn’t work.

I want to jump in a puddle. And squeal with delight. And not care if i get my new dress dirty.

I heard pins drop, it was that quiet. They were falling from her hair as she ripped the up-do, the baby’s breathe tossed aside next to the tiara that no longer glimmered. It was a sad thing to watch – a bride then a widow in the same day.

The ruby lay before him on the velvet covered platform just begging for him to touch it. He wanted nothing more. But yet, something inside him stopped short. Conscience perhaps?

A simple hood has come to symbolize so much in just a few weeks. And why is that? We’ve had hoods associated with racism in this country for many years. People afraid – or hesitant – to show their faces. Why? And why do we worry when we can’t see them? Are we really that afraid?

It was a wonderfully long, cold, rainy Sunday during which I did nothing, thought of nothing, worried of nothing. The reality of Monday hit hard, and low.

She’s the best catcher we have, but years of squatting behind the plate have worn her knees and threaten to wear her future. Can she give it up and move – oh god! – to the outfield? That’s where an arm of her caliber needs to be, if not throwing out would be base stealers.

So we were discussing the ratings feature this morning and everyone had a differing opinion on what the client wanted. The only thing we agreed upon was that it wasn’t going to work they way we wanted it to work – regardless of the client’s desired functionality. I love meetings like that – we’re always right, everyone else is always wrong.

when she told me the pattern she’d chosen for the baby’s room, i was a little worried – i’m not really sure a blue, grey and white plaid them is appropriate. i was quiet though and tried to accept the hgtv-ness of it all.

The gallery was full of admires and naysayers alike – anyone who wanted to see Josephine fail and everyone who hoped that she would succeed. There was no conversation, as everyone held their breath waiting to see which group would be more content at the end of the night.

Shit! I curse alot. I know i should probably find a better way of expressing myself, but sometimes there’s nothing more fitting than the perfect four letter word.

She ran around the track with the speed and intensity of a wild animal hunting its first meal in weeks. Nothing could move her focus. Nothing could slow her down. The wind in her hair rushed by and the noise was deafening, just as she had hoped it would be.

Friends of mine had plans to adopt a puppy; actually they still have plans to adopt a puppy. Even more clear, they have plans to adopt another puppy. Puppy #1 turned out to be more puppy than they could handle; seriously, don’t you think that would indicate that maybe they are not adopt-a-puppy people?

my chief concern was her safety… would he really take care of her, feed her, bath her, omg, what if she missed the bathroom – would he really know how to handle her, or would he, as he was so apt to do, say something that would make her feel small and not important

EPIC. KInd of says it all doesn’t it. It can be good-epic or bad-epic, but is always quintessential epic.

When i was a kid i had a wagon. No, not a red flyer or one with the really cool wooden supports on the side, but a plain ordinary black wagon, complete with rust and wheels that my father repaired and replaced over and over again. It was a good friend.

Wow! the festival was amazing. the lights and sounds and people and smells, it was a sensory overload experience. I’m really happy that i went, but will need a few days to adjust to common life.

Today the function is to move from point a to point b. Nothing too radical, definitely safe, but yet still productive. i’m happy with that. at least for today.

There are days when any kind of collar is like a choker. just nothing there, please. I need to breathe. and then i see those folks wearing dog collars as chokers and it makes me wonder – really – what they hell are they thinking?

Below me I saw nothing but vastness – every detail of earth and sky between was beckoning for me to jump; That, and the instructor beside me yelling, “MA’AM – are you going to go or not?!?!”

The crisp winter air felt refreshing on her face when she stepped out of the door. The night before no longer sogging her down with it’s guilt and regret. “Perhaps,” she thought, “today will be a better day.” And with that she tugged on her scarf and took in a cleansing breath so deep her yoga instructor would be proud.

how much we conceal
from others
from ourselves
from God
the effort it takes to conceal and keep concealed is beyond the price of truthfulness, i think

sparkling champagne is a celebration of good times, simpler things like bubbles and laughter. sparkling is not what i am feeling right now. i wish i were sparkling, i hope i will be soon.
