A worm that’s so ugly turns to something so beautiful. The dull colors that turn out to be so beautiful.

The girl vomited into the vat of hotdog pulp. That was the story my fifth grade teacher told us, and I wonder now is she was lying. How many of idols–then, now, childhood, last year–had constructed themselves from pieces of folklore and pop songs. My teacher also played us Louis Armstrong, and we liked it, so I left with soft jazz stuck in my stomach and stopped eating meat four years later.

We often played Joy Division. We played it on popping vinyl, imagining we were English by the sea.

The stove dials said “LITE,” and I wondered at the misspelling. Was it foreign? From the time of my grandparents? I’d never used gas before and the way the flames leapt out in an ocean roar made me jump back, count the ways I was still alive.

Words are always too much or not enough, too few or too many. “Balance is proportions and not opposite,” I said to the Pole in London, late-night drunk and walking to the store for more cider. No, I’m lying. I didn’t say that. I thought it and laughed while stiffly trying to shrug off his hand.

Texas was bluegrass, and blue grass, and cockroaches scuttling out of it in swarm when the sun went down. Late night dehydration was a battle, a brave arms against the bugs, thrashing against their ancient exoskeletons until they curled into themselves, pussing and bleeding into the linoleum. They would always be there after you were gone.

They danced on the roof, bulky bodies swaying over the glow and crowd from the festival below. They could smell the sour sunny beer swelling up, and they felt themselves waving against it, sweat clinging to fabric and fingers sinking into skin.

The bent metal of the shop light you bought when you said you were going to work on the car, fix all of the broke small pieces, the ones that didn’t change anything, didn’t keep us from going grocery shopping or taking the dog to the vet, but still made the drives over less than the windy American movie ideal.

It ensued. Like fire and chaos and fear and all of those things that we associated with big, with bright, with violence. And it was always the violence that was illuminating the flowers and rooftops. There was a light there.

You are the deep blue sea, and I will dive wholly into and immerse myself completely in you. You are the soft quiet wind passing through my fingertips.

there’s only so much time a person can get. a minute might seem like a little but really it’s quite a long time. in a minute you can hug someone for longer than you’d ever imagined. in a minute you can confess something you’ve been holding back. in a minute you can discover something you have never known about yourself. a minute makes the difference.

bricks, like building essences. a body, a lego, a life, out of bricks. full of roughness, but can be crushed. if only a human was as fresh as a brick, solid, but enough potential to build something new. something fantastic, something fresh. something, out of nothing.

It was a fragrant Arabian night. She wore her veil as usual, looking mysterious. The night sky was twinkling with stars and the air was filled with musk.

A PERSON WHO ONLY BELIEVES IN GOD.. I THINK… I DON’T KNOW, BUT I THINK NUNS SHOULD DO SOMETHING BETTER WITH THEIR LIVES. NOT THAT THEY DON’T SERVE A PURPOSE BUT.. THEY’RE WEIRD TO BE HONEST.

unbelievably stubborned into believing every little detail the daisies sitting at the gaps of my toes are saying, the ridiculous wallflowers, the upturned gipsies and open-minded misanthropes, the contradiction of the new age.. the lifeless forms, the ongoing circus with the reruns that taste the same, old papers.. what else is new… the country is a market place, the words are scarce and new, and the old fashioned minister is gasping – whatever happened to the old stone walls? the grey life

rising above clouds, i ache to elevate myself above this mundane, annoying conformity that currently suffocates my soul. My wings clipped, i ache to elevate myself beyond that which they deem successful and catch myself as I fall into an abyss….
