life is one narrative that you cannot edit, you can only create it going forward. but unlike typical narratives life keeps repeating the same situations, so you have a chance to edit it in real time

94th element in the periodic table – plutonium, enabled the project that wiped out Nagasaki. The Manhattan project. Science lives on. Thousands of lives ended.

LA does not do scooped out bagels, which are the New York thing. Everything, well toasted, scoped out with tofu creamcheese is the best! Add a slice of cucumber for perfection.

Life isn’t about winning or losing. It’s not about being first or last. Surprisingly enough, it’s about being smart or dumb either. It’s about being ready. Being ready to decide. You can’t be indecisive. -c.s

It was supposed to be something she could do easily, choose one or the other. But it had become complicated because she actually knew both of them. One candidate was her good friend, and she was expected to support her because she was. The other was her neighbor, always forthright and helpful, but lacking the charisma necessary to be someone you’d want to share secrets with in the corner of a school dance. But because she knew her friend better, she also knew that she couldn’t vote for her.

She was glad that he had left his sweatshirt. She could never wear it around him–she only liked to wear structured dresses and skirts and heels, or none of those at all, but she had never been the kind of girl that could look beautiful in a billowing sweatshirt. So she’s glad it was left behind. She could wear it now.

In the dim light, she could see something. It was coming closer and closer and closer and closer and-“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!” she screamed. It was a ghost!! “Wh-wh-who are you?” she asked. “I am the ghost of your mother” the ghost replied. “I AM BACK TO HAUNT YOU!!”

it is a form of “proper” every human must try to succumb to. whether we like it or not it will happen. proper etiquette for a 3 year old is not to pee on the carpet; proper etiquette for a 20 year old is wearing a tie to a black tie dinner. it comes with time. it comes with age. it will happen.

“…like you mean it” one of the greatest songs of all time. by The Killers. funny thing about that band is that it sounds so normal to the average ear of this era…but its really connoting a nasty evil thing. Killing. doesnt do that to me though. it makes me :). and i mean it.

i was watching a program tonight on late TV. i never watch the news. but this was a special edition called “caught in the act” and it was about scary incidents where little kids get away without being killed from moments where they could have been. this one was about a stroller being run over by a train and making it out alive. scary.

once i was at the train station in ny, penn station. well not once but this past trip that i took to ny i had to go there. it was fun. shocking. shocking why? well, i hadnt been on a train IN ny in YEARS. must have been 10 years+ since my last train trip. well the prices had all risen. it cost me A FORTUNE to get a train to great neck! why great neck? i was going there for a friends wedding, but when she told me i would have to meet her over there I had no idea she meant that i would have to take a train to get there. subway Im used to- train- hadnt done that in a while. so it was a fun experience. something to add to my list of things i did while in NY.

I’ve never appreciated the salty taste of a regular pretzel. The overbearing taste of dough, the idea of dunking it in mustard, the ease it could be found on any NY street corner. Never my choice.

babys are curious
perhaps their minds aren’t ingrained with whats supposed to be
they just see things for what there is
and as a result they see more
because they have an open curious mind
i wish to be as curious as a new born
and surprised by what i find
instead of just expecting the end result

going places. travel. helpful and convenient. Not something you would appreciate if you live in Toronto and it is called the TTC.
Transport ideas, thoughts, feelings to transport the self. Movement is everything.

The crown appeared at the top of the stair like it had belonged there all along. As she ascended in her stealthy attempt to sneak it for herself, Claire realized that, although she had been trying all this time to get it for herself, it wasn’t the crown that she really wanted, but the knowledge that she could, in fact, achieve something.

hidden is everything about me. everything about most people is hidden. we hide. that’s what we do. this isn’t revolutionary or anything. we all know this. it’s been in tv and films and literature for as long as they’ve been around. it’s just so true i think it bears repeating.

Fashion. The signature of you. The signature of me. Something someone remembers. Something someone judges you by It might not be the greatest judge but it really does give credence to the saying “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.”
