I looked out quickly over the terrain.
Rocky. Sunny. Dry.
Freakin deserts. And I was supposed to cross this mountain like range. For what though?
A dark tower? No.
A beautiful woman? No.
Money and riches? No.
Because some person told me too? Getting there.

He stood at the bridge of the ship.
“Colonel?” One of his bridgemates asked.
But he didn’t hear them. He only saw the infinite possiblities of the situation at hand, most of which resulted in his death, or his ship’s destruction.

“WE HAVE NO TIME FOR THIS, THAT PORTAL IS GOING TO CLOSE AND IF WE AREN’T THROUGH IT, IT’LL ALL BE OVER!”

I am not inspired. I walk a different path. The things others have discovered are the tools of my life.
I am not, however, a copycat. My goal is not to find what others have found, but to use what has been found in new ways.
I am an engineer. Watch me work.

The lake surface glistens with power, knowledge, all the wonderful things that I stand to gain right here right now.
But further beneath… things get complex. All those wonderful things I want have a price. That price… is unseen, undefined, murky as the depths of the lake of which I speak.

He ran. And ran and ran. And then he ran some more. But this was not forest gump. While Gump ran from his grief, this one ran from his fear.
Fear of failure, fear of defeat, fear of that which has not yet been seen.
But could he outrun it?
