exact

Why did I get this one word again? What is going on? How does this relate to me? I don’t understand. This is a reflection of my mindset, having an analytical viewpoint, perhaps overthinking and stalling with analysis, trying to avoid regret.

flock

There was a flock of sheep grazing on the hillside. At least I thought there was. When I looked closer I saw that it was really clumps of snow. Just separate clumps. Sitting there. Doing nothing.

threaten

Please don’t threaten me with your stick I said quietly as the angy boy waved his stick very close to my face. He backed away grumbling noisily. Then I smiled.

toned

The sleek brown arms reached up to slap the volleyball over the net. The toned legs flew up with the impetus of the hit and sand flew out from the manicured toes. Lila knew it was a score before she landed back down in the hot sand. Another hit for the team and another notch in her belt. The seat rolled down between her shoulder blades and made her back itch.

motorcycle

The sand was just firm enough for them to scoot along with the salty air filling their lungs. The sidecar ran much smoother along the beach than it down down the road.

fishing

sparkle and quiver in the moonlight.
The full moon reflects off the shimmering mirror.
Little pop sounds come from upstream.
They are here but they are hiding
I lure them in with cheese
And eventually they reach the campfire.

perform

The opportunity to express yourself in front of others. A great way to build relationships and make friends. To sing, to dance, to read, to write, to publish, to win! You see performance every day in all aspects of life…open your eyes to performance. Appreciate effort.

Sitting on a chair
with clammy hands
and a lost smile
i glanced around,
trying to stall myself
from walking into
the room.

analytical

One can be too analytical. Sometimes the essence comes from the wholeness — things in communion with other things. That wholeness or communion is broken when seen only in pieces or parts.

selective

the selection process for getting hired was a grueling one. It took me two years, some delay on my part, but two years to go throught he process. testing, casing, behavioral interviews…it was exhausting but I made it into the club! I was one of the “smart” ones apparently because not everyone got in!

terrain

The terrain of a country can be hilly or flat. It can have lots of trees such as an olive grove or it can be farmland. The right terrain can command lots of money when the land goes up for sale. I would like to have a terrain of an olive grove situated near the seaside. A nice little cottage would be wonderful as well.

sentiment

“How sentimental is the day- the day that your mother has passed away.” said Rebecca, sniffling silently. “I never knew her very well. Oh, darling, I wish I had.”

Charles nodded his head. “I should have taken you to meet her. She was a lovely woman when she wasn’t in bed with other men that weren’t my father.”

hijacked

Don’t move! Everyone stay seated and no one will get hurt. “Yeah, I’ve heard that before” my seatmate mumbled as everyone stared, frozen.

David didn’t know what to do with himself. He was the jock who always mocked the kid in the wheelchair, the kid with the twisted face, the kid with thick glasses, and now that was him.

suicidal

Suicidal is not in my vocabulary. I am overwhelmed with sorrow that so many teenagers find a final solution to a temporary problem. Finding things to be thankful for will help prevent suicidal thoughts.

squint

she goes and sits at the back of the room. walking along the pathway in the middle of the desks. tugging in backpack through the squished area. the teachers squiggling on the board and she puts on her glasses and squints at it. heads turning to see the new meat at school.
